I think I might have found my unicorn

Model: International IC-CE PB105
Model Year: 2010
Series: CE
Vehicle Type: BUS
Body Class: Bus - School Bus
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating: Class 7: 26,001 - 33,000 lb (11,794 - 14,969 kg)
Brake System Type: Air
Displacement (CI): 466 Displacement (L): 7.636371824 Engine Model: International DT466/Maxxforce DT

Additional information:
Current Mileage: 102,000
Gear Ratio 5.29
Transmission: Allison 2500 5sp
Engine configuration: 210HP/560ft.lbs.

It's a 10-window bus with a rear wheelchair door.

What is a fair price for something like this - as as Skoolie? Both at auction and dealer?

thats a opretty new Bus... first question would be why did a school get rid of such a new unit.. (were there emissions or other issues with the Maxxforce DT?).

secondly.. thats a full-on emission control bus.. the first few years of those ended up being pretty problematic.. I would do some research on emissions controlled busses before buying one..

the Maxxforce DT was one of the better emissions engines.. (make sure its NOT a maxxforce 7 V-.. if that bus is a CE300. and it should have labelling on it as to what engine it has..

what size tires? im guessing with the GVWR that its 11R22.5?

the transmission and gearing are good... with the above mentioned tires you would be running 2100 RPM at 65 MPH in 5th gear.

I've never heard of anyone who liked their Maxxforce engine. I've also never heard anyone call a bus that new a unicorn.
They're pretty problematic and thus IC now use Cummins engines in their trucks and buses.

Most of us look for older, pre-emissions stuff. Way cheaper and easier to keep running. Me personally I'd pay MORE for a 2003 bus than a 2010.

That's just my 2 cents.

The children's center (most seats are have boosters and child restraints) lost funding and is getting rid of a 2010 and 2014.

I am familiar with the emissions issues, I would prefer a 2006 in this same config, but I might be willing to go the emissions route if I don't find something, I might look at this. This engine is the DT, not the 7 - I talked with a dealer and got the additional information.

Don't know the tire size.

Any ideas on fair price ranges?

Thanks for the input. There is a possibility that I will have foreign registration, so an emissions delete might work out. Since it's the same basic engine, it should prove similarly reliable to the old DT466 or DT466E - although I am not an expert and I don't know for sure.

While I would never engage in such activity.......

Many parts of the US, including where I live, have no emissions inspections. There is zero inspection/enforecment here. One could easily order the emissions delete package and get away with running it: https://bensdieselperformance.com/ec...rce-dt-466ht./
