Not yet. I am going to go look at it much closer and go for a test ride.
My biggest issue with it is that it has a top speed of 60 - 65 mph. That's it. I am trying to find out about swapping the gears in the rear ends to increase the running speed a bit. But Not sure about a source of parts yet.
Since its a live tandem axle you'll need two sets of differential
gears. You would be better off looking for an overdrive
transmission, maybe a six or seven or 13 speed. You should
try to get a hold of Moki Brandt he's the most knowledgeable
man on here about Crowns
Thanks Dragonpop!
I have come across his name on the yahoo group Crown Coach Junkies. He gave me some information about this bus, including letting me know that the bus has a bit of a history. Seems to have been for sale for a while.
But I am going to take a look at it soon and see what happens.
The guy who answers the ad and the phone is short and almost confrontational about it when you start asking questions. I think he either does not want to sell it or does not want to be bothered by it any more.
But he put me on the phone with the actual owner...his grandfather. And he was a great guy to talk with. Gave me a lot of information about the bus, very friendly and nice to talk to about it.
