IS THIS A GOOD DEAL? Opinions, please!

Forty foot Bus Conversion, all aluminum hull, built in 1965, fully converted and restored in 1986. Detroit Diesel, Automatic Allison Transmission, tag axle, air brakes, power steering, Air Chief drivers seat, new tires, 300 gallon diesel tank, 300 freshwater, 300 blackwater, 3 cylinder diesel generator built-in, two air conditions, four burner stove with oven, full fridge and freezer, satellite TV, sofa, two bunks, Queen bed master suit, full bath and shower, water heater, trash compactor, inverter etc etc etc. Her name is Phyllis the Whale and she can be driven with a regular license. I don't have to sell, just have too many vehicles, and will not entertain any lowball offers for her. Too many bells and whistles to list, all well-maintained top of the line appliances, new motor and tranny 40k miles ago.

I'm not believing the mileage on that 53 year old bus, even though you posted it twice. It may be on the odometer, but certainly not what the motor has. Need to know what engine and trans are in it and post many pics. No one can place a value on something we can see.

If it was repowered in 1986 with a 6 cylinder Detroit it is most likely a 6v92. The most common Allison in those buses would be the HT-740.

You can google some of the ad from below to find it.

Looks like it's been for sale a while. And the price has been quite a bit higher. Or maybe those ads are from when they bought it? Facebook implies it's a recent purchase.

If it checks out mechanically and isn't rusted underneath, and the rear suspension is in good shape, and the mileage is correct--- That's a sweet, sweet chariot.

Hey! I got some replies this time!! Thank you, all!

I greatly appreciate the input.

We're looking for a bus for the family and we just can't do the conversion. Husband doesn't have time and I have zero skills .. although I'd be totally into that sort of challenge, I have zero tools to work with and really can't go crazy on expenses. So, as of now, we're looking at rigs already done.

I'm torn though, between this style, and the flat nose Blue Bird style with tons of windows. Feels more open ..

That Eagle is designed to go a million miles in comfort. If interstate miles are on the agenda there's no comparison.

ive driven both.. as most here know ive logged a ton of miles on my school busses in the last couple years.. but I used to drive some friends from ohio to florida and back a couple times a year in a fully outfitted Coach. (it was a prevost).. and the ride and power of a coach is fantastic.. while my school busses arent converted (im more a bus geek than an RVer) I can say with certain that if I were to make a conversion it would either be a school bus or a fully-windowed coach... if there was one fault with that prevost it was that it was dark inside.. I am a Bright and shiny and sunny type of guy. and I find that inside a sachool bus full of windows has that modern-Loft-apartment feel when the original windows are left in..

that said windows are a hug source of heat loss and heat gain..

that is one sweet looking eagle... id definitely not be ashamed to travel the country in a rig lke that!!!
