ISO Converted Skoolie under 10K

Currently living in VT with my partner and 3 small dogs. Looking to purchase my first skoolie.

Must be solid with little to no rust.
Looking to pay no more than 10K and don’t mind it not being fully converted but must be livable. Must be able to handle climbing hills/mountains.

With a $10k budget for an allready converted bus you are going to have to accept some compromises.

Yes. A 545 on a short bus isn't a deal breaker.

besides- historically the folks wanting to put the most miles on their bus always go for a 545!

Yeah I don’t mind some compromises. And don’t need it to be fully completed either. I don’t know much about purchasing a bus and which would be best for me

Just the usual 545 reminders...


If you go with a 545...invest in a fluid temp gauge AND a good oil cooler. Keep the temps in line and that trans will go forever. Especially in a smaller bus.


Also...if you decide to turn up the power on your engine...make sure you do NOT exceed the input ratings for that trans (HP & torque).

If you're resourceful you can often find a decent Wanderlodge.

There is a fluid temp gauge installed on the bus... so many things it's hard to remember to list em all. Unrelated, but also remembered that it has automatic snow chains strapped under there... we never used them but they are there.
We definitely did some very steep terrain in that bus... definitely crawling when it was REALLY steep, but she did it.

that`s not a cheap accessory - ive always wondered how well the automatic chains worked
