Looking for a bus in Oregon
Hi,
My name is Arbor and I'm new here. I am in Eugene, OR and looking for a bus to convert to a home. I am having a really hard time finding used buses...does anyone have suggestions on where to look for/post ads?
Here are my criteria:
Less than $5000
27 - 36 feet
No serious problems
Manual transmission (auto might be ok if everything else was perfect)
Diesel would be nice but is not a requirement
Anybody have ideas on where to look?
Thanks!
Arbor

Re: Looking for a bus in Oregon
Craigslist, under, RV,s or Cars and Trks, just type bus in the search block at the top of page.......... I found way too many that way,....... hard to pick just one.
You will need to narrow down what you really want in the bus, cause they come w/ all kinds ofstuff.
ie ramp door, diesel, gas, auto, stick, 2 speed rear end, AC, highway speed rear end, lower gear ratio will lower top speed and increase fuel comsumption.
mileage on vehicle that you can live with, tire size, length, inside height. etc etc etc
good luck in you search for the perfect bus......
check out the classified section of this forum....

Re: Looking for a bus in Oregon
Two sites I used were:
http://www.publicsurplus.com/sms/bro...aucs?catid=402
http://www.govdeals.com/index.cfm?fa...ow=1&mycat=94H
I also watched eBay and craigslist a lot, and some other sources I can't seem to find anymore.
I have a 1991 Thomas conventional on a Chevy C60 chassis, 366ci Gas engine, 5 speed manual, hydraulic brakes that I'd part with for $1500. However, VA is a LONG drive from OR and it would cost too much for you to drive it home.
As it is, I'm likely to haul it off for scrap (about $1460 as it sits) in the next few weeks. :/
Good luck with your search,
jim

Re: Looking for a bus in Oregon
It's best to buy a bus fresh from the agency that had it. The publicsurplus.com site is where Washington State sells there stuff.
I've been following WA state bus sales for several years now, and from my observation fewer buses are going to surplus. One could conclude that the problems with state and local government finances have led agencies to hold on to their buses longer, effectively cutting off our supply of blank canvases.
On the bright side, bus prices at auction still largely reflects its scrap value, not demand by the artisan.

Re: Looking for a bus in Oregon
Syke is wrong! He bought his bus from me- but I just listed another like his. Cummins 8.3 with alison 643 auto trans. Im in NE Oregon the price is set at 6000, but it is negotiable- I cant store it forever.
It is a blue bird all american Rear Engine. Very solid bus and a great well maintained runner. I have an ad in the classifieds
