Missing Emergency Hatch

While taking my 1985 Bluebird on her first trip, with me as captain, it was getting so hot I thought I was going to die. I thought I would get some cross ventilation by opening up the entry door. I was cruising right along down Interstate 35 at a solid 55mph. When I grabbed the door control arm and gave it a tug the 55mph wind took hold of the door and whipped it all the way open. That cooled me off in a jiffy but turned the bus into a big wind tunnel.

What I had failed to check, before the morning's launch, was the position of the Emergency Hatch. As it turns out, it had been left in the 'vent' position. When I opened the entry door to let in the breeze, the 55mph blast of air hurled the Emergency Hatch into another dimension.

If anyone can assist with trans-dimensional travel or simply another Emergency Hatch Cover I would be elated.

Thanks!!

Or get one of those RV vent fans. A bit pricey, but I'll bet they are awesome!

I think you mean..... Fantastic!

Edit: most of the RV vent fans are sized to fit a 14X14 inch opening. I think you can get some larger & they double as an emergency exit.

If any of you end up witha standard Vent fan, get the covers like the Maxxair. Means you can leave the fans open during most rain storms. We have two on the Class C. We often left tne vent open during rain storms and only experienced "sprinkles" when the storm was from the vet side of the cover. One also protects the really old sun damaged vent lid in the bathroom from every thing. We drove the Class C with the vents open thanks to the vent protectors... nice. One Maxx Air was already on the RV. The other (bathroom vent) I got while in GA. A definite recommendation if you use those types of vents. Keeps debris out as well.

Re: Missing Emergency Hatch

RV Salvage yards have rooftop AC's that can be had for cheap compared to a new one. The rooftop AC will cool your bus somewhat but it doesn't help much driving down the road, as least not in my old motorhome, wife and grandkids in back bedroom watching a movie on TV and freezing while I'm burning up up front driving the coach. If I ever get a bus the front AC will be over the driver's compartment
with the blower pointed on me.......

Of course you'll need a generator to run it.
