Need advice PLEASE

Hello! I'm brand new and hoping to become a proud skooly owner very soon. I am looking at a 1993 International with 137000 miles it is diesel automatic V8 DTA 360 engine. It has new brake lines, regular brakes, very good tires and no rust. All the seats have been removed and some light work such as Plumbing lines has been done. He is asking $2800, which I feel is a steal, am I correct? He says that the engine and transmission are sought-after because there is nothing electrical with them. Is this true? I assume this means they are easy to work on too. Thank you so much for any input you feel like giving.

Depends on what engine and tranny are in it. There were a number of different engines put in that bus. Trans is either a AT545 or an MT643. Price is reasonable.

I would ask for more detail on the engine & transmission. The DT-360 is and inline 6 not a V8.

If it has the DT-360 the most common transmission paired with it is the AT-545. No a favorite here. Not a dealkiller. Brokedown toured the US in an AT-545 equipped bus. However.... He does have a LOT more patience than I do.

What size is the bus? How many windows on each side?

I did a Google search on that bus and while it showed about 5-6 different motors for that bus, a 5.9 was not one of them.

If it runs and drives and stops and is not rusty, then it's worth the price.

Check all under the bus for rust.
If the bus is solid, the tires have any tread, and it runs good then maybe offer him/her $2000 cash and see what happens.
