Interesting. ATS couldn't sell them on eBay (reserves seemed to be way too high), and now here they are at Roller.

Welcome! Looks like you got a good deal.
(Edit: you may be able to get some maintenance history on that bus, by the way, by contacting ATS in Commerce City.)

It was a good day to bid. I almost bought both of them, one to fix, one to cannibalize, but the crusher shut down a few months ago and I wasn't sure what to do with the leftover hull...
The other buyer only wanted the motor and the rear tires. I've been in contact with him but my phone died last week. Here's hoping he'll reply so we can get back to wheelin and dealin...

When I was bus shopping I found lots of buses I'd have bid on had they not been so far away- in your area.
From Maryland on up they are plentiful and fairly cheap from what I saw.
NY and NJ seem to be the short bus capital of the US. LOL that made me chuckle.

Can't tolerate the bid thing because by the time the bidding is thru the amt is double what u wanted to pay? Lol. Just want it with price tag of actual price. You have a bus conversion?

Auctions look to be the cheapest way to go. Just factor in sales tax and the buyer's premium (fee the auction house charges) into the maximum bid, and stick with it.
Stuff with a price tag is probably going to cost you more, because the seller bought at auction and now wants to turn a profit.

We're...special. Especially since we've got the Michelin Man as our governor here in Jersey (Ger-see, not Joi-see. Only guidos from Staten Island and people thinking they're funny call it Joi-see)

I'm converting one.
I can't afford to pay someone a profit for "finding" a bus. I bought mine for 2100.
It would be at least 3500 had I not bought it from an auction.
Cut out the middleman or expect to pay much more for a much less "fresh" bus.

Agreed. Check Govdeals.com or publicsurplus.com. Sometimes DRMO may have a GSA or USAF/AFR/ANG bus they're off-loading. But that can be few and far between.

Yeah even with fuel, lodging, beer for my copilot, tax, tag, title... I'm still in this bus a ton cheaper than buying a bus thats being privately sold.
Another good thing about buying from a school through an auction is that the person who's job it is to sell the bus for the district doesn't have any person motivation for the sale.
They often have the vehicle history available. They often hook you up with fuel for the return trip.

The site the OP mentioned has another auction coming up in the next week or two with at least one Chevy-based short bus, probably a 99-02.
Lots 67 and 68 were 2001 Chevy short buses, went for about $1500 each.

Electricity would be shore power or a generator for me.
Maybe some solar stuff down the road if work ever picks up.
