I like those buses, especially the ones that already have a bathroom. You notice how they don't bother scaring you with the mileage?

I wouldn't care about the original bathroom if I was doing a coach conversion. They're usually in the back over the engine bay which is a terrible spot for most conversion floorplans.
You also end up having to expand or cut it out entirely if you want to add a shower.
My company keeps their motorcoaches til they literally just fall apart. Prevost seems to hold up way better than the MCIs, we have a few with 900K miles on em. Mostly Cummins L10 with some Detroit 60s

I used to see a lot of busted down MCI Greyhounds on roadtrips.. but seems some of the hounds i see now look pretty new....
friend of mine that worked for them said "dont buy one of our busses'.. he claimed they let masint go on a coach they knew was getting reitired... and did on;y the minimum to be legal and not get DOT attention...
they even had busses that the A/C was broken and would send them up north to use in the cold and mild months and let them sit for the summer rather than fix the A/C.. esp if the bus was about to be retired..

Our local over the road bus company is Peter Pan. The owner has 2 of the GM future liners that he brings to the "Big E" every year... But don't buy one of his retired busses... Lol

The EPA goal is to get the older, more polluting buses off the roads.
If you want the grant money, then you have to make sure that the old bus is removed from service (and not just simple sold cheap to someone else that will keep it running for a few more years.)

I saw that.
IDK why but something scares me about buses from the Carolinas. They seem to buy cheap ones and beat on em from what I can tell.
THis one makes me wonder- IS that broken, or how a park brake on a fully hydraulic bus looks?? Brokedown's Vista didn't look like that from what I remember. Looks broken and dangling. I guess I should get ahold of them or maybe even try to go up for a look. I DO want this drivetrain. I wonder what tranny and rear end its got. I'll ask em today.
If anyone could put eyes on that for me I'm definitely interested... But if I'm being honest, Thomas is my least favorite of the big three bus companies. Just my personal opinion, not meant to offend anyone.
Anyone wanna go check out a bus for me?

the brake lever is definitely at a different angle than mine.. but when in park position it is push down like that.. does almost look like the cable is missing or has been broken off.
I didnt notice what city in NC it is located, I have to come that direction when coming back to florida this week... (im avoiding the I-75 corridor through atlanta).. so i'll be on 77 through NC.. probably end up stopping for that night south of charlotte.. if its somewhere in range I could swing by and look at it..
be interested to know what tranny is in it too..

If you are swinging through Massachusetts I could always use a hand replacing the tappet cover gasket. Lol. Safe travels Chris!

If the bus is nice, I could live with even a 545 since its a shorty.
I'll get ahold of the seller and find out some more. Maybe the possibly broken brake lever could keep the price a little lower!?

Here are three buses for your viewing pleasure.
I think the asking prices are a bit high for something that "ran when parked".
But if you are into vintage, all of these are from the '50's.

Would love to know what people think about this bus at this price.
1985 FORD B600
cylinders: 8 cylinders
drive: fwd
fuel: gas
transmission: automatic
CLASSIC BEAUTIFUL ALL ALUMINUM SCHOOL BUS NO RUST NO LEAKS RUNS GREAT.
WOLFINGTON BUS BODY'S WERE VERY EXPENSIVE AND VERY HIGH END.
THIS BUS CURRENTLY HAS THE SEATS REMOVED AND IS USED FOR CHART STORAGE.
BUS RUNS BEAUTIFULLY WITH A FORD 429 HEAVY DUTY GAS ENGINE.
Without knowing mileage that is a concern. Is anyone familiar with this gas engine? Im wondering what sort of MPG is possible with a lighter aluminum frame.

Newton's less than 30 miles from I-77........get onto I-40 West at Statesville and it's a straight shot.
FWIW......the ad mentioned gearing on that bus is 6.50
