This is an interesting thought. Most of us like to travel. It would be good to combine that with a profit source.
Full time in a skoolie in Florida... Occasionally take a train to a bus to drive back to Florida to sell to keep living in a skoolie... Now if only my wife would get on the bus lol
That sounds perfect to me.

Wow, 13% buyers premium AND a $20 surcharge. That's a little outrageous.

For a second there I thought that was the Rhonda Ruth bus, but 256k is getting kind of high.

On the Tennessee tuxedo short buses there are still five under $4k.

There are so many Ferd buses out there for sale. It looks like people are buying those up to put on fleabay at ten times what they bought it for, and it's still not a good bus. I grew up liking Fords, but they've changed.

The 6.0 killed it for Ford. And international.
Put that nightmare in a van, and yeah nobody wants to touch that!
Grew up on Fords, now greatly prefer ANY other truck/van/whatever. The only Fords I dig are the Crown Vics. Excellent cars.

I only like the older fords now. The new ones look like they're copying Chevys and Jeeps body style. Yeah, the Vics are tough as nails.

My first car was a 1950 Mercury, and second was a '65 stepside PU with 3 on the tree. That was when I learned how to change a tire, trying to keep some tread on the truck.

Oh, I like the looks of this one. Please give me your opinions. Its a long drive from Austin to Amarillo. I wonder what a "2000" transmission is? There's a discrepancy between mileage posted and odometer. Thanks for the help folks

Yep, that's most likely what it means. Allison 2000 series.

It has a .75 overdrive for fifth gear, and a lockup torque converter.

I have a Ford F650 rollback with an Allison 2400 behind a Cummins ISB.

Roughly 300,000 miles, and no signs of any problems.

I wasn't sure if it were lighter duty than the 3000 or heavier duty than the 1000.
Does it have the magical locked 6th gear also?
I didn't look at any busses that had anything but a 3000 series.

Yeah, I believe it's more stout than the 1000 series. Definitely not as strong as the 3000. But if paired with a 5.9 or 444, it's plenty strong enough.

No locked 6th gear, only a 5 speed.

It always bothers me when the odometer doesn't match the stated mileage. It's usually just a changed guage cluster.

Sounds like a nice bus, and it's a 14 passenger because it's a handy bus with a completely flat floor. No wheel wells. If that was a 4x4 it would be my unicorn.

Thanks everyone. This bus sounds encouraging. So could we venture a guess that this is the second motor on the drive train and transmission?

I just paid a visit to the 190 bus auction in Dallas last weekend. All the shorties of this style were from the 2000-2003 time frame. Two of them had the drive shaft laying inside on the floor. All 8 of them were a mess. Each sold around the $1000.00 mark. They had been sitting for several years. Several of the 40' buses sold for about the same price and some of those started and sounded like nice running motors. I'd say the deals were in the big buses.

Thanks for the info. I better have that talk with the wifey and then go place a bid.

While it's certainly possible that the engine has been replaced at some point, there's a very good chance it still has the original motor in it.

The instrument clusters in these things are known for failures. The mileage showing on the odometer is how long ago the cluster soiled itself. If you plug a computer into the engine control module, you can see how many miles are actually on it.

Oh, sweet! Buying a bus to begin with is a crazy enough idea; buying a 42 year old bus is off the charts. Back away and nobody will get hurt.

1962 GM 4106 Diesel pusher Tour bus conversion - $8000 (DeMotte /Wheatfield IN) craig

not mine and def not a skoolie, but here is a project for someone:

https://chicago.craigslist.org/nwi/rvs/6104903060.html

I have a 62 GM 4106 that is in need of a new owner. It is a 35ft bus converted to an RV it has an 8V71 Detroit Diesel engine a four speed stick, has an Onan two cylinder Diesel Gen set that runs very nice. two roof air conditioners, a large three way fridge runs on LP,110v AC and 12v DC. LP gas stove top oven, Microwave, Separate ice maker, fresh water holding tank with pressure pump, gray water holding tank, LP furnace, it sleeps four, has a tile shower and an RV toilet with a sink. and much more, many new and used parts go with it including new air bags for the air ride system that works great.

Why the low price for a diesel pusher RV with all this? well the bus needs some work and updating it starts up and drives any time. if interested call and I can fill you in.
More pics coming soon. Text or call Sunday through Friday two196130442 make me an offer!
