Right, but what size tires? I need a frame of reference for how fast the rear end gearing actually is.

Those are about 33" tall.
With 3.54's, that puts it turning about 2,450 rpm at 65 mph.
Perfectly acceptable for a 6BT. Redline has you running 83.

It doesn't like to do 65. This bus likes to pull a flat 60. Lots of personality in this Bird. I'm going to be the slow boat in the states that have higher speed limits, and I can live with that. More time to see the sites. I'm not going anywhere fast.
It's getting better after a few longer road trips. It was so gummed up. Maybe my speed will improve.

My red bus has 225/70/19.5 with 3.54 gears , I get 65-70 easily in it but I think the small wheels ride harsher

I didn't realize they use a different front cap either. I think it looks like they used two back end caps.
Did you notice that 3.54 rear axle on the data plate?

3.54 is common with 19.5's on a TC.

You don't have to take down the ceiling to re-insulate up there. everywhere else has 2'' of r19 board. The ceiling has new batting.
"Thermal Break" isn't a big deal when the roof is insulated and painted to reflect sun. I got down to 66 degrees off one AC in 95 degree florida weather, and I stayed warm in 31 degree weather in Texas. If that isn't proof the ceiling theory isn't a major factor I don't know what is.

maybe every bus is different? my red bus has factory A/C and even in the hot sun the ceiling gets warm but not blazing hot to the touch...
my carpenter bus was built without A/C, and I added it.. the moment the sun comes out that ceiling gets Blasted hot to the touch...
the red bus has a regular white paint ceiling, the carpenter has a regular paint very light beige ceiling...

When Dave and I tested different paint colors with an IR heat sensor, white was ten degrees cooler than any other color, even light colors.

Too bad folks leave buses sitting till they're virtually no good. I'd love a nice, running, clean one of these!

Damn it. Why can't that be closer to me?
That thing's got $1,200 worth of wheels on it.

It's basically free too. They did say they'd be willing to take something in trade.
Can you imagine what the inside looks like after being flooded. What a project.

Awsome that it's working out for you.
I'm glad I took mine down though because I found alot of mold on the existing insulation and some rust on a couple of the panels.

How does a bus that big end up "under water at one point"? I can see in water, but under... someone made a big mistake.

Being in Florida, a hurricane might've been involved.
