thats the size of my FIRST bus . mine was a 5 window Bluebird with the Chevy chassis.. same wheelbase. same tires.. not sure what happened to this poor bus in the auction but for the paint to rust off the heat / electrical box it almost had to be parked wit hthe driver window open all the time and rained in..

wonder if it runs.. defiintely looks like it was used in the mines or fracking or such

Looks cool and all, but I'd HATE that setup. Its gonna ride like a farm implement, have a bastard engine, and I'm not a fan of those 5 speeds.
This would be good as a farm implement or maybe public transit in the third world.

im not sure what my old bluebird had as far as suspension but it didnt have bad bounce in the back so it had to have air-ride.

AT&T around here has some short wheel base work trucks that ride on a very similar setup.. the big tires and all.. and those things bounce down the road.

was the 8.2 a Non turbo? be surprised wuth all the dust and mud in that bus if the engine hasnt been dusted at some point..

still the coolest size bus though!

Here's a nice lil mechanical engine bus in GA that looks to be still going cheap.
DT360, says it runs good. Nice midsize bus.

the DT-360 is a good little engine.. great in a short bus.. wont run you down the road at 80 but they chug right along and dont run hot.. like their older brother the DT-466 they can be rebuilt in-frame..

Some dealer will be asking $4500 for it, then everyone will want it.

If I hadn't spent every dollar I had this year I'd have bought that bus.
I GOTTA start doing the bus flip. I can't stand watching em auction so cheap and then chat with so many people willing to pay tons of money for the same buses on CL or dealer lots.
Gotta get myself some seed money. Maybe sacrifice one or both the buses I have now, and buy four or five at auction.

In my opinion, finish skinning the ward and sell it that way. You could charge a premium for that bus with a raised roof.
But I would hate to see it go.

Believe me, the temptation is there. But a mechanical 466/643, air ride, and storage bays is hard to come by in nearly rust free condition. But yeah, I think about that from time to time. I'd think it would probably sell fairly quickly and easily once its buttoned back up. Life is full of tough choices.
Watching those mechanical 1999's go for cheap up in WA last month made me cringe, I wanted one SO BAD. They were BBAA's that were literally DECKED OUT.
May have to crack a few more eggs to make a BIG omelette.

I think an 8.3 with an MD-3060 might trump a 466 / 643. and be weary of an 8.3 with a 643 and too short of gears to cruise it.

The 99's went for 4k. they were CLEAN, MECHANICAL 8.3's with 3060's and ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES.
I could have cried.

That's why I think it doesn't move too well. The rear tires probably get torn to shreds if driving under any good load with that small amount of rear clearance.

Garage bus

This would be the ideal set up for someone wanting a lift or garage. Lift is all the way in the back.

Mid size busses, are these a good buy?

There's a couple of these on Public Surplus at the moment. This is the length and internal height I'm looking for, I was hoping some of the more knowledgeable folks could weigh in on the engine / transmission combo and whether these are a decent value with a $4500 starting price (and an even higher reserve). Thanks!
