It actually doesn't look that bad and if you didn't have to move it far it could turn into a pretty unusual project.

I might be mistaken but the Unlawful to Pass when Red Lights Flash sign on the back makes me think this bus was a WA state spe'c bus. That particular rear sign has been in use since the '50's and is still in use today.

It's on the back of my 99 Genesis, the only difference is the lower line is now in red. I'm picking my bus up in Mont., don't know if it came from Wa. or not.

If it has a side emergency door on the driver's side, it might be a WA state spe'c bus.

If it doesn't have a side emergency door it couldn't have been used at a public school in WA state.

I tried all week to get them to send me some full side shots, as all they had were taken when the bus was parked between 2 others, so crappy side shots. It does have a driver side E door.

A better side shot and I could read the school county on the side.

The bus I looked at in South Carolina had that sign and a driver's side edoor. Pretty sure other states do the same

I know a lot of you guys don't like the Cummins 5.9, but... the 12v is a well proven engine and takes to mods easily and cheaply due to availability of aftermarket parts. And having a short wheelbase 9 window FE seems like it could be fun. And scope out that driver side door.

The 5.9 is a fine engine. Especially in a small bus. Its that damned 545 transmission we all loathe.

I'm hoping to win a motorcycle on auction this Fri. If I do I have to head 8hrs west to the coast of Ore. to pick it up and then 2600miles, looks like a 3 days cruise.
My bus was purchased from an auction in Boulder, Mt. last year.

Too Good To Be true

Was looking at these on Govdeals, looked like a sweet deal until you realize you have to give them back the wheels and tires once you get home, or negotiate a price after you own the bus.

Here is a really nice Crown that is for sale.

It has the Big Cam Cummins and a 5-speed, it has been converted to a tour/charter bus with cloth covered recliners, overhead parcel racks, and coach A/C.

It is also not National School Bus Chrome Yellow any longer.

That's one you have to give the wheels and tires back or purchase them separately "at time of pick up". Which means you have no clue what they are worth to them until after you own the bus. That's a huge chunk of change.

I didn't see anything in the details that said the tires and wheels were not included in the sale price in the Ebay listing for the Crown Bus.

I'm sorry, I must have clicked on the wrong link somehow, the wheel deal was on a link I posted, thought yours was the same.
