Nor me. I set my budget at having to sell only one kidney!
Refreshing the bid numbers link to the bitter end was like watching an episode of, "Lifestyles of the Rich and Foolish"
Meh. What's a geezer like me need a dream for? [emoji22]
At least the the school district got itself a healthy cash infusion, tho it seemed an excessive price, given that not even an insulation upgrade had been installed... [emoji849]

I logged in and looked at the bid history before going to work. I thought I was ready to place the winning bid, but is was already close to my max, and sold for about 1.5 times what it would have been worth to me. Cool bus. I know somebody will enjoy it!

This is how I ended up with my first Z3. I watched and bid in a bunch of Miata auctions on eBay that usually had 50+ bids. Decided to play in a Z3 auction and initially bid up the price to the reserve of 11 grand - and then there were no other bids and I owned the car. Thought for sure I'd gotten massively screwed, but it was the best car I've ever owned. Lasted me 9 years and I resold it to my cousin for $2500.

there was someone on here a while ago that put low bids on a number of buses and wound up getting several of them - he was trying to offload the extras - lol

This is the 3rd time this guy has listed this bus. The 1st two times he had the wrong engine listed. I have actually gone to look this bus over. Had a verbal agreed price(before viewing) of 3 grand if it ran as well as he said it did. You ever drop a brick in a wet paper bag? Anyway. Here's the things he's not telling you. The shifter handle is messed up. You'll never have to worry about the engine or transmission (545) rusting because of the significant oil leak. (unknown as to where it was.) With everything that he's removed from the bus (seats, interior panels, A/C heads, windows) none of it was kept or is still with the bus.The final "brick through the bag" was that he couldn't even get it started. But originally sold at Ren'e Bates auction for 1250.00.... In my opinion, with all this and a multitude of other things I saw that have been screwed up, I'm giving warning to who ever might be watching it. STAY AWAY for your own sake of sanity!!

Should be a 2000 series, do not think that they were still making the 545 in 2004

Does anyone know when or if Allison stopped manufacturing the 545? Seems to me a simple search for it would come up with the answer, but I'm not finding anything.

Not sure when the 545 designation dropped, they kept revising and upgrading it. I would suspect around 04 when the EPA came in was when the 545 was no longer used, replaced by the 1000/2000.

From a search:
Allison Generation 5
In 2012 Allison upgraded to the Generation 5 model, which is still in use today. The 1000/2000 series made the switch first, and then the 3000/4000 series followed. Differences:

This series focuses on prognostics, constantly monitoring operating parameters and notifying the driver if there’s an issue. This includes oil and filter monitoring, and transmission health monitoring. The shift selectors were also re-designed.
Allison Generation 4
These transmissions started to appear in trucks in the early 2000s, around 2004/5 time frame. Difference included:

More sensors, more diagnostic capabilities, and advanced configurations of the Allison Transmission product line.
Allison Generation 3
In1998, the Allison Generation 3 replaced the original WTEC II transmission controls. Theis generation ushered in the computer-based diagnostic era, which meant you could use a variety of diagnostic tools to connect to the Allison Transmissions to read codes, clear codes, perform diagnostic commands, and more. Other differences:

The controls for the Allison Transmission were updated, offering several different styles.
Allison WTEC
The oldest Allison Transmission configuration was the WTEC. If your commercial truck, RV, or machine is from before 1998, it probably has a WTEC II transmission. This series had no diagnostic software or computer, but you could retrieve codes from the shift selector

Well I guess I was just searching/asking the wrong question. Thanks 01marc for the help on that. Next question would be how to discern which one it is by the 100% quality pics these auction sites give sometimes. Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've edumacated myself on these things...... The dash shifter that's further up on the dash is NOT a 545. The shifter that's lower, almost vertical, is a 545... ??

You, me, & most everybody else! Last look, no nibbles at the hook.
I do think those barn doors are pretty nifty!
I know that region of South Jersey pretty well. And being how it was a band bus, I'd bet it didn't see too much use in the season when the roads get seasoned...
