Another nice CO bus. Has a really nice air ride seat in it.

Crusty-looking Alabama bus but it has a high roof and an Allison 2000

Must be one of the MD3060's that I'm told were ordered with T shifter handles....no idea if something like that actually exists or not.

Also I've noticed that school bus auctions are increasingly listing transmission type in the description, probably because that is the #1 question that gets asked in the questions section (along with roof height and overall length)

Look at the shifter labeling and the lack of led display. D-3-2-1. I think that it is an AT-545 or MT-643.

there are definitely 3060's with t handles in school buses. Some districts require it.

the T handle MD-3060 shifter looks different than an AT545 or AD 2000 shifter..

Yea. I need to figure out how I’d get a bus back from CA so didn’t bid on em. Are good short buses like those rarely put up? Trying to decide if a somewhat higher priced one like this in Santa Barbara is worth it if it means I don’t have to wait another year or even six months for a cheaper one.

They pop up enough that you should be able to get one cheap if you watch.

Thanks. I love the 30' length... kind of a "long" shortie...
But I'm a newb, so i don't need to buy a passel of problems. Why is FL not good? I'm in NC.

FL and NC are two of the southeast states I just don't bother bus shopping in.
Both use their buses HARD and buy low spec stuff to begin with. Also NC has a max of 45-50 mph on their standard school buses.
Since FL is a hot spot for exporting the bus prices here are crazy. The highest prices on some of the worst buses.

Watch TN, VA, KY, AL if you wana stay "local".

Very good to know. In terms of developing skills at a VERY advanced age, the local community college has both a diesel engine class and a welding class. Both of them are relatively full time (like 8 am - 2-4 pm 3 or 4 days a week). I'm thinking I've got a much better shot at learning something practical if I do the welding class to learn welding for the conversion, and rely on mechanics to work on my bus, for the most part. What do you think.
