Still, how cool would it be to fix up that bus and convert it? Doesn't make any economic sense, but..

Don aka Tango had a 46 that he'd spent BIG money on. Modified tastefully with a 4bt reman engine and allison 2000 trans. DId all the rust repair and bodywork. COuldn't even get the ten g's he was asking.
I'd look up his family and see about buying his if I had the money.

Sorry to hear that...

Not to be profane, but you think his family might have a bus or two of his that they might want to sell?

5.9 Cummins and Allison MD-3060.

I have not seen many TC's with the 3060.

I am a fan of the 5.9. I have had them in my trucks. In a full size bus, I'm very partial to the 8.3. There are a couple of members here with the 5.9/3060 combination in a full size bus and seem to be happy with them.

If it really has 122k miles on it I would call that a good deal at the reserve price.

That bus would be a great combo for a FE. Somebody is gonna be really happy.

How do I find the reserve?

That's gonna be a nice bus for someone short.
Standard headroom kinda sucks for a lot of us.

You can ask the seller, sometimes they will tell you. Otherwise on sites like Public surplus you see the big red letters underneath the current bid telling you that the reserve has not been hit yet.

Lots of weekenders/casual skoolies would be fine with a low roof bus honestly. Also for a roof raise that one would work great.

Aye it sure would.
I may throw a bid at it if it stays low. Very tempting.

As a bus driver that does a lot of trips where I use the understorage, I always wondered about the point of those smaller luggage bays behind the rear axle. They're so small you could fit maybe 2 hockey sticks or a couple racks of water bottles but thats about it.

For skoolie purposes they would work great if you could buy a tank that fits in there though

My company only orders trip buses with 2 big boxes between the axles on both sides.

To keep the thread on topic heres a somewhat unusual-sized bus. 47 passenger convetional, it's not a shortie but it isn't a full length either. Not sure why they're calling the transmission an Allison 1500 though?

I might have to pay that garage a visit on Monday or Tuesday, it's only 2 hours away from me. I'm keeping an eye on the All Americans they have up too, if they run cheap I might nab one for the AC parts.

What do you think of this one?

Newbie here, what do you think of this one....

"has a shutter" "mechanics think the torque converter may need to be replaced" How much (ballpark) would that end up costing?

You're looking at $1K to pull a tranny minimum around here.
Other than that, that's not a bad bus. Still 2 weeks to go, probably sell in the $3K range.
