Freighliner Box Truck $2500 200k

So if you really want a big full size expensive-to-maintain school bus, then this one might be a better bet. Full size big box truck. Says may need trans, so should be at545's free all day to swap in from school buses.. lol
Note it is not legal in California anymore, unless an RV. Short rear overhang, good for towing.
$2500

The box truck is just too easy for a DIY RV, how about starting with something harder,
this Fire Truck. Says new tires, the $2500 means you get a free truck with your new tires!

I think that ceiling would be a tad low. I'd stick with the box truck.

There's a sweet bloodmobile on GovDeals. I bowed out at 5 grand.
Its a USMC vinyl wrap.

190hp 12 valve 5.9 with a 545 so it won't win any races or be especially deft at mountain duty. But a very nice unit. 15kw diesel genny!

77.50” Interior height
Cat 3116
Allison MT643

$5,500 OBO

I know how some feel about the Cat engines. Not sure how good a deal it is just considering the age and mileage already. Being a desert bus is a plus though.

The Bloodmobile is $7200 now. Does anybody know if these Bloodmobile/Bookmobile conversions have decent insulation? Or is it a case-by-case basis? Seems like it would well be worth the premium, if so.

From the first post: "Anything's fair game as long as it's a 3rd party bus for sale"

Please don't take it wrong, I'm just wondering why in a majority of your posts you seem to discourage people to buy a bus. What bus size do you own, and what was wrong with it?

Yeah, but I guess more of a general question too.

OK, so why pay $5-15k for an old school bus sold because it was worn out and getting ready to need expensive repairs with 200+k miles and then spend 1-3 years and another $5k-30k to end with a motorhome that is really heavy, smaller, gets poor mileage, subject to rust, has leaky windows, no passenger seat and costs a fortune to maintain?

When you can just buy something like this one just posted on CL, $10k for 28ft motorhome with 20k miles on it and then spend the next 1-3 years traveling and living in it.

I don't know about the insulation but all 4 rooftop units and the 15kw diesel genny work!

That thing has everything going for it. Except a very low end, albeit reliable drivetrain.
For something that one doesn't plan cross country trips in it would be a swell start. Even at the current price. Its even got hydraulic leveling.

I like to help people from making mistakes.

Some here don't like it because they profit from it.

Maybe you see as a mistake something you don't understand.
I'll stop here, we are off-topic.

(That said, I have to agree on your second sentence).
