Oh dang, didn't notice that. None the less, it's the "legendary" 7.3L. Prices are also currently very low on the auction so might be worth a buy? Current min-bid (including the calculated "premium"), is $1518.75. That's not too bad. Assuming it's in decent shape haha

$1500 is a bargain if they are in good running condition.
With 45 bids..the last 10 minutes you see the real price is how these auctions go.

Holy crapoli!! My wife hates the idea of buying a bus cross country without seeing it, but this one closes in 25 minutes and is only $1350!! Even if it doubles by close and with the premium, that's not too bad!! But if I buy it and can't make the drive DC-MN I will never hear the end of it!!

That small bus is in the final "auto extension" phase, where each new bid extends the open bid time another 3 minutes.

EDIT: With fees, it closed at $4838. That is an impressively high figure, methinks.

Yup, $4251 and counting, not including the premium!! Luckily too rich for me to feel bad for passing!!

There's a local auction near me closing in a couple days. I know MN buses will have rust, but I'm thinking of doing a very simple "starter" build. That way we are only in for a few grand and can try the lifestyle, if we love it we can look for a clean bus and do our dream build. With 5 rowdy kids the bus life might not work too well...

Did you look at the bigger, but still manageably small, buses I linked to a few days ago? DT466 engines and MD3060 transmissions. We bought one a couple of months ago and it's a fantastic, rust-free beast of a short bus with a good 6' (maybe a touch more?) headroom. I guess these will go for about $4500 or so. They have 5 of them listed, so that takes some of the pressure off the bidding.

Wow! Real deal Neil can sure seal the deal. Lol
Is not a terrible looking bus but that's a big chunk of coin.
But in this market he's fishing with the bait they want.
The B50 on that thing is 350,000

The 25ft Blue Bird TC1000s rarely come up and even less so with 32000 miles on it! That said this one doesn't have functional brakes and probably has some rust due to it being from NJ. Still it could be a way to get a TC1000 on the cheap if you're willing to put in the work.

NJ buses are almost always really rough but those TC1000s are so sweet to have.

There's one that sometimes pops up on my local marketplace but the sellers seem rather disinterested in actually unloading it and it's been sitting for 2 years with an interlock issue. Plus it's almost 4 hours north of me Maybe one of these days!

I'm going to see this one on Sunday! If anyone knows a diesel mechanic in Kansas City who could look at it with me, let me know. I like that it's basically done, and I can tinker with the aesthetic parts that aren't exactly my taste.

Was keeping an eye on this one and was hoping it would go for bottom dollar. 10 window RE Bluebird All American. they told me they measured it at 33’, and had a Cummins engine and Allison transmission when I called them. They said it starts and runs great but is being surpluses because the school no longer exists. Great condition souther California bus. I think this is about as short as rear engined school buses get. https://www.proxibid.com/asp/LotDeta...55012#topoflot

If that bus is mechanically sound and leak-free, that's an absolute steal at $10K.

That is a really oddball size for a Blue Bird RE. Looks like it even has aluminum wheels too!

There's an even shorter one tooling around my neighborhood. I've been meaning to take a pic of it, I think it's an 8-window.

8 window transit style FE 1999 Bluebird TC2000. 5.9L Cummins, AT 545 transmission. I believe this is about 25', which I think is about as short as you can get a flat front.

I saw this one on FB Marketplace the other week; now it is on CL. Not sure if the person is a member here or not.
