The bus I bought spent all its life in New England. Thirteen years, and no rust on the frame, minimal rust on the interior. It all depends on whether the operator gives a damn about taking care of his buses. The one I bought it from, Healy Bus Co., does. His two mechanics swear by the DT466 engine and recommended I buy this one because it does not use DEF and is not as annoyingly computerized as the newer ones.

If one student can't get to school because of snow, the school will close and everyone stays homes. There is never any snow tracked into a bus here. I think we got snow maybe 3 times this year and it's always gone by noon. I had to laugh at the question here about the rust situation.

$4k with 2 hours to go....guessing it will break 6-7k at the current rate. That is a very hard to find size.
I hear ya on the rust situation, maybe it is different with the coastal areas of GA where you get the salty air?

Did you look underneath the bus? There are no pictures of that in the ads. Must be a good reason for that. It doesn't have to snow for things to corrode.

It is definitely different than coastal conditions. I've lived in Dawsonville for going on 30 years, one reason is because we don't get snow.
I'm guessing, it'll go for just under $6k.

https://www.purplewave.com/auction/210914/item/DN1882/1996-International-3800-Transit_Vehicles-Bus-Kansas
Auction closes in less than15-hrs and it's up to $2500. I was a few hours away last week, so I made an appt, drove down and spoke with school bus shop's head mechanic/manager, Mark, for over an hour. In my (newbie) judgment, it was in great shape-- just out of service.
This bus, along with several others on Purple Wave are being aged out after 25-yrs of service. He's been working at the bus shop 23 of those 25 years and obviously takes pride in his work. He claimed this bus (#17-- he doesn't know auction #'s) is the best of the bunch being auctioned, but all were "over-maintained" at the shop. He let me drive it around the parking lot and made a copy of all mech records.
Actual odometer is about 207k-mi. The tires are old (front 2010, rear 2011).
Call the seller representative listed on the auction with any questions or ask to speak with Mark directly-- he was super friendly.

2001 Blue Bird 5.9l L6 Diesel - GovDeals Las Vegas
Bus in Vegas up on GovDeals! I can tell some skoolie hunters are already on it based on the Q&A haha
2001 Blue Bird 5.9l L6 Diesel 7 window
Some body damage in the rear passenger side - but the comments say it is in running / driving condition (may need tune up)
Good luck and get after it!

That's a nice bus, already at $4k, reserve not met, with 5 days to go. $8-9K?

$18k, but a lot of the conversion is done, already registered as an RV and passed inspection.

2001 shorty handicap bus, as usual with almost no helpful information in the post. Low miles for it's age (esp. if it's a diesel) and it appears to be a high roof?
Why the heck am I looking at Craigslist so much these days??

Thanks for not posting this sooner. I was just about an hour away yesterday. I might have been tempted, and I DON'T need another project, yet

1 ton? My Z3 weighs more than that. Hell, my immediate family tops that.

You're welcome
One hour from Butte America? So you were in the middle of nowhere, yet so close to the center of everything (at least according to Butte residents). You could have stopped to see the beautiful Berkely Pit! So many missed opportunities...

Haha, Didn't notice your location. I was actually up at the Kettlehouse, so, more than an hour in bus-time. Should have looked you up. There were 4 skoolies in the lot for Billy Strings including the Missoula Graffiti bus

Not a skoolie, but could be made into one heck of an outrageous bug-out-anywhere rig.
