I love the exterior "roof" windows. I guess I like the lines of the older buses too.

Salem, OR 2002 RE with 8.3 Cummins
https://www.govdeals.com/index.cfm?f...17&acctid=5859
(closes 11/10/16; current bid $750)
Looks like he backed under a low bridge/roof and tore up the roof a bit. Might be of interest...

Or an old Crown Supercoach with an old conversion job?
With the engine and transmission in this thing, that might be a really good buy for $5,000.

Anyone have a clue what it would take to add power steering to this beast?

Anyone have ideas on how involved the process would be? I have never taken on bus body repair.
It looks to me like drilling the rivets out of the rear cap and first roof section. Cut out the damaged framing. Replace frame members, replace roof metal and replace rear cap. I know that I saw a place listed somewhere that sells bus body parts.

I would be tempted to bore a strategic hole through the deepest dent and fish a chain/cable/snatch strap thru with a crossbar inside.
Then anchor the other end to a great big tree and give it some gas in forward gear, ha.

While driving a small pickup truck I was rear-ended and pushed into another car. It bent the bumper in and the next day I wanted to straighten it. I put a chain around the bumper and around a convenient telephone pole in our pasture. I put the truck in reverse and hit the gas. The truck lurched back then went " BAM- wooooooonk".
I thought to myself, "I was expecting the ' BAM' but not the ' wooooooonk'..." - climbing out of the truck I saw that instead of bending the bumper neatly out to its original shape I now had a 1.5' outie akin to a train's cow catcher... I kinda overdid it...
Learn from my scars.

Use a forklift or skid loader or tractor with bucket . Skidloader would be best so you can wiggle a bit of necessary. Would be better to have loader on a dock and buss backed up to it. Go very slowly.

This online only auction is ending November 29th here in my home county.
Twenty eight busses, all but one are Thomas Built busses with 7.2 or 10.3 CAT power.
The newer busses in the school fleet are Internationals.
So I do not know if they moved away from Thomas due to reliabilty, cost or kickbacks.
https://www.proxibid.com/asp/Catalog.asp?aid=119226
Of the auctions this company runs, final bids are usually way low on general school surplus stuff.

It was on the news today that Pittsburgh's transit authority is buying new buses (25) replacing those 12 years old with 500k miles (or more).
Yowsa..100-150k a school bus seems like nothing by comparison!
