Speaking of rust......notice the rust on the side panels? Can't help but think there is lots more where that came from.

How can you tell? I'm not interested in buying the buses, just curious.

So is this bus really worth 10k +
https://www.govdeals.com/index.cfm?f...168&acctid=423
It seems there a higher demand for these shorties than for the big buses.

Very low mileage, sparkling clean inside. No comment on the price, but shorties often sell for more than big buses -- no doubt because more buyers want them.
And why is that? I suspect there are many more people, businesses, and organizations who have a use for a shortie than there are people-like-us. And of us, many cannot fit a 40-footer into our side yards.

I got my bluebird shorty for about 2k.. mayube because its 6 row, small tires so no one thought it would go fast? and no wheelchair door?
seems busses are fickle.. some of them go crazy in price.. others go for next to nothing.. seems like its just who haopoens to see the bidding site and if anyone wanting that type of bus goes into a bidding war over it...
ie - people read dealer prices online and 2 of them go at each other assuming thats the going price.. vs you bidding against a dealer who will back out at a low price..

Well, I sold my last bus (Ford450 6 window) because I wanted a smaller. But I might get a better deal on something like what you got (6 window actual bus).

I think the lack of wheelchair lift on a shorty seems to be a plus for lower prices.. my guess is that at that point you are no longer bidding against secondary schools who need a handicap bus..
i believe the cutaways bring more money because they can be registered, insured and worked on similar to consumer vehicles .. ie Powerstroke 7.3 and any ford garage vs T-444E at a commercial diesel shop..

+1 to that. I have to weight in the pros and cons, since I probably won't be doing any mechanical repairs myself.
If anyone sees any shorty, feel free to send me the link.
Thanks in advance.

With that 4.8 its gonna be a slow, underpowered work truck for someone.
The 6.0 is much better!

Any break down with a bus is gonna probably cost you more than the price of the bus. I'm sure you know this now but its worth mentioning.

A friend of mine bought a 5.0 equipped 4 window (24pass?) cutaway as a mobile kitchen.
Any time she has an event to travel to that involves going over a mountain pass she hires a flatbed tow truck to get her rig to the event.
Someone told me once: There is no replacement for displacement.....
I have talked to our local bus barn service manager and he loves the 6.0 gas powered cutaway's.

School district in Tennessee is unloading a bunch of 2000 Bluebird All Americans.
They have CAT motors and AT545s but they might be worth a look if they're going cheap enough. And I'm pretty sure Tennessee doesn't salt the roads in winter. Either way they look 100x better than your typical WI bus.
