That's the kind of bus you cruise a thousand miles a day in blissfully floating along.
I was a bit envious of every one of those that flew past me in my Ward on the way home from KY.
I like my school bus, I knew what I was getting. But on the interstate, there's no comparison, IMO.

What would you expect a bus like this to go for?

That engine bay looks pretty rough! But that maybe a lot of easy stuff to clean up - hoses and such.

Detroits are really not ever gonna be too clean. They're dirty beasts.
IDK, probably somewhere in the 3500-10k range!? it all depends on location, condition, if anyone else wants it real bad.
I like the mci's of the mid-60's through the early 80's best.
But they're all good machines if cared for properly. They CAN go MILLIONS of miles.
A friend used to drive for lots of bands. He bought a brand new MCI and put nearly 2 million miles on it in not that many years. He then sold it for quite a bit of money. He LOVES his MCI's.

School district in AZ has a couple buses up for sale. Of interest are the International pushers which have the rare DT530. Most of them have mechanical issues but it could be a deal for someone who has the resources to transport and fix them.

Not entirely true.......

I had an 8v71 that was BEAUTIFUL! Spotless in Detroit green. We plumbed the puke tubes into a catch tank and used RTV on all of the trouble spots for oil leaks.

It was a real show piece in its shining beauty.......

The we started it and it was all over......

There is a reason they call them "Green Leakers"

Personally, I would avoid the DT530. They used a split front cover design which was prone to developing leaks between oil and coolant. I'd take a DT466 over a 530.

Good info to note on the 530. I've been lusting for one just because MOAR....

They did say one of the buses had coolant in the oil so it could be that.

They also had a ton of miles on em so they're probably a bad bet unless someone absolutely needs a rust free DT530 and is willing to pay for an engine rebuild or lots of repairs.

I've seen used, running 530's for 3-4 grand, and NOS engines for 8k.

on a DT coolant in the oil is often an engine thats been overheated and the liner seals went bad..

its an In-frame job. if you can in-frame one yourself then you basicallty have a nice rebuilt engine for a couple grand.. the inframe kit comes with pistons, bearings, sleeves, seals, I think oil pump .. if you want to do it up right you get your valves done and injectors rebuilt..

since you would have fresh internals its a good time to 'turn it up' if you want more power.. a DT-466 can safely and easily be turned up 30-40 more horsepower... if your internals are old or it has lots of blow-by I wouldnt turn it up

I really like that 94 bluebird... Except for the gasoline engine.

Why folks spend so much time chasing low spec buses at dealers when this is available is beyond me-

that fire truck would be a Beast to drive!!..

for someone making a motorhome that animal clinic could be a real money saver.. even if that bus goes for 8k you have your genny, A/C units, sink, toilet, being an 8.3 im gonna guess its an MT643.. probably highway gears.. theres a Bus ready to convert...

The generator is worth more than the bus will sell for!
