Why is this bus going for such a ridiculous amount? $12K for a CAT-powered Thomas with an engine that's chugging coolant? Did people not read the entire listing?

I understand the CA emissions equipment is worth some money but not that much.
Ha! You beat me to it! I wondered the same thing.

I guess I'm just watching too many auctions going fairly cheap to understand this.
All the local FL auctions I watch go for crazy money like that.
I know someone who paid nearly ten grand for a fairly low spec bus in Zellwood.

I was surprised nobody bout those RE Thomas buses for $300-$500 in Tallahassee that needed engine work. Bodys were very clean.

There are a couple of nice bluebirds with the ISC motors up for sale. Nice looking activity busses. Look like they are in really good condition.

So what is the price? $70,000. That's right. SEVENTY THOUSAND!!

Not surprised about that at all. . .except for the color.

A black bus. . .in Arizona? Really?

I mean, prisoner transport, so you're looking at highway miles - no start and stop. Arizona, so no rust, salt, etc. The upfit for prisoner transport probably costs a good deal - custom windows, the added grating and interior coverings, and all the other security stuff they install.

If I were looking for a full size bus, I would bid on it.

Did you check the battery kill switches?

This really does look like an ENG conversion: ENG Mobile Systems, Specialty Vehicle Manufacturing

Top quality parts, and if you can find the public records I bet this thing cost in excess of $100k to the tax payers.

Probably used very little; expect to replace all rubber hoses and break it in. It's also likely depending on city regulations that maintenance records will not be released.

7.3 seems a bit underpowered but it'll still go and generator probably has very few hours. I'd also assume from previous experience that this thing was very well maintained whether it needed it or not.

I honestly can't talk myself into another bus but I think whoever gets this thing is going to be more than happy with it. ...probably even stored inside before it was replaced with something better.

Underpowered as in wont even go 50MPH?.... over 300K to be more exact. Farber not ENG... etc.... its mine

The same person who paid $15k for that bus is now bidding on a mechanical DT360 bus in Arizona.

Running the prices right up there. Oh well, I guess if you have money to burn you can do this. Probably planning on reselling at even more inflated price.

isn't that the one where the "questions" asked were answered and one answer was engine is bad and needs rebuilding?

(I am not registered there so I can't see that stuff)
