I've always kept a look out for a double decker, I guess being raised in the U.K. With so many of them around left a soft spot for them.
It would be legal in FL. The Republik of Kalifornia, probably not.

NASA may very well have used this on their own property only.

I was wondering about that, too.

Height isn't an issue though. It's only 13'1".

Remember the guy in FL who was trying to sell a British double decker? Said if it didn't sell for some crazy price he was gonna "drive it California".
Never did hear anything else. At a top speed of 45, that would be a long, torturous journey!

He's probably someplace in Texas right now, rethinking his decision.

For the steal of a price of just 25,000 you can buy a double decker London bus... And it will be your responsibility to somehow get it out of London, and certified for use. 😂😂😂

It was sorta a local landmark... It sat as an "eye catcher" at a used car lot in Orlando for many years. Then a guy bought it and decided to sell it... It changed hands several times then started popping up for sale for like 25 grand, irrc.
This NASA bus makes the British stuff look like junk- which it is!

Imagine driving a TALL oversize vehicle, with a TOP speeed of 45mph from FL to CA!
You'd be really limited to big truck routes due to size, but you'd be doing under the minimum in many jurisdictions.
They're always asking a ton of money for these kinda buses and while they're pretty cool, the reality is they have crappy headroom top and bottom and are very impractical. Cool? yes. Useful? not so much.

Funny...

for years you could buy a $250k 45' motorhome in PRC (Peoples Republic of California), you could pay the sales tax and pay registration every year. Unfortunately it was illegal to drive it on public roads in PRC.

That has since changed but was on the books for many years.

I also found this one - looks interesting, though it says only 500 were made, so it makes one wonder how hard it would be to find parts?

It looks super clean! Is the price right if all as good as it sounds?

I can't say. I have not researched Crowns at all, they are rare here on the east coast, and I don't think a cross country trip would fit into my life. Try contacting Browncrown. He has a beauty of a crown and probably knows a ton more than I do. Cowlitzcoach also has a wealth of knowledge on anything Bus. Hope that helps.

I would love to go the 4x4 route, but the mechanics scare the crap out of me!! LOL - sounds like it needs some work to get going though.
