There are people in your area, lots of them, that can help you get the right bus probably for well under $7k. I'm on the west coast. The word is buses in Fl are frequently overpriced and/or rusty. Take your time choosing one.

VT-365 power is adequete.. the Navistar version is tuned for good low-end..

BUT!! overheat a VT-365 ONCE.. and its destroyed.. no block, no core, just DONE!...

the OIL temperature is what is the nemesis... as engines age.. the blow-by increases.. which runs up the oil temp compared to coolant temp.. esp in Hill-pulls, towing, etc.. .. the VT-365 has a better track record than the cheapened-up ford version (6.0).. but you have ot be pretty careful with it.. I'd buy one in a Short-bus... an IC BE or CE200 can be had with nice allison 1000s or 2100's, and even A/C for great prices... in a full size bus being used for rocky mountains.. or pushing 75 MPH through AZ desert in summer I woulkdnt touch it... or if I did, id make some cooling mods..

an oil temp of 260 will Melt the internal plastic parts of the engine..

Overpriced? Definitely. But rusty? Wouldn't think so since we don't have to deal with the snow and salt like up north.

Well I wouldnt say under $3k is a steal. Seems like its right around market value when considering the purchase price of most on here. $7000 must have been prices from dealers I assume? You need to start looking at auctions to get a true reflection of the skoolie market.

I got one of my buses in FL. The problem wasnt that Florida buses were necessarily overpriced, the problem usually was that they were usually completely poverty spec. The cheapest, most basically equipped buses they could buy. Then the buses are minimally maintained.

I paid $1700 for mine with CAT 3126 and 146k miles on it. No rust anywhere.

I looked at the listing and it appears that they have VT365's. I am not sure that I would get very excited about a full size bus with a 6.0 in it. I have one in an E450 cutaway and it has adequate power. I don't think I would want one in any larger rig.
I saw the 6.0L and was wondering the same. I've not seen a 6.0 before and don't known what a VT365 is. I'm going to hold out for the 8.3L.

Offer still stands if someone wants eyes on them tho. Same auction house has some REALLY low mile buses. One is under 10k miles. They're probably going to want more than $4k for those. ISB 6.7 engines

That's a pretty cool old rig. Looks like a WW2 bus. Soooooo far away.

This is a "shorty school bus ". Sets on a 3/4 ton chassis. Currently no engine but has a 4 speed trans. Very solid project vehicle. No rust, just dents from years of wear and tear. Kansas bus. Currently in Az. But I can arrange shipping. Clean title.

I was about to email that ad in Greenville until I noticed it was hydraulic brakes. Not often you see a 72passenger that didnt have air brakes!

Florida is a heavily coastal state. with lots of rain and salt in the very air, buses in MANY Fl districts can rust.
FL buses mostly SUCK due to our terrible, under-funded schools.
FL bus yards don't buy parts, they start robbing them from the lot, like a junk yard.
