They looked brand new, but Gideons are a fairly sketchy lot. Last buses like those they had went for around 8k apiece and they stick you with lots of fees.

Try as I might, I can't make finances add up to make a purchase before sometime this summer anyway. So I'll point out to the community a couple of sweet looking buses that I had my eye on locally (to me; DC area).

Public Surplus: Auction #1534523
Public Surplus: Auction #1534555

Unfortunately I can't see it in my schedule to get over there and look at them, since they are only available for inspection for 4 hours 9-1 on 2/9 (what's up with that?). But they do look good, and they'd hit all my bullet points if I could afford to bid.

Has anyone bought a bus from this site? Seems a bit on the expensive side, but if their info is accurate, it might be worth it?

I've sent some messages to them after captsquid suggested them (thanks for the tip, by the way!) ...

The first bus I inquired about was a 2002 RE with a DT466 for 4500. The first message I got back indicated that the bus needs a complete overhaul, doesn't drive (or even turn over), and has rust to be expected from indiana weather. I'm going to keep looking through their buses, but this wasn't a great start.

4500 for a bus that doesn't drive, start, and is covered with rust? yikes - not that's not a great start. Let us know if you find anything else - good or bad

Luza, I bought mine from them. The only external damage, outside of slight surface rust at a few points, is sideswipe damage done to the basement doors. I paid $8K for mine - 128K miles and 6 almost new tires. And it's only 12 years old! They have several yards, so you might narrow it down to a yard that's near you.

Maybe someone is interested in this: Converted School Bus

But I'm mainly curious as to their claim that it doesn't need a title because its older than 15 years old and from Vermont. All I found on the Vermont DMV is something about regarding being 25 years or older, and even then it seems to only apply to that state. If you bought it in another state, you'd still need a title if your state calls for it, no?

I'm not buying this bus, I'm just curious about the ways titling laws work.

"No title required"???...New one on me. Even historic vehicles here in Texas must have a title, even if it is one filed for and re-issued as lost.

Don't some states allow older vehicles to be sold and registered with BOS and PO's registration?

Some of you may be interested in these 2 Crowns...

Crown Supercoach RV 1957

This is the ad for the '57 that's already converted. In 1 of the pics you can see a baby blue one in the background. Its a '62 and not converted but is empty inside already. Both run, but definitely will need some work, including tires. Asking price is 8500 for the conversion and 8000 for the '62. They sounded open to offers.

The converted one has electrical problems and at the very least will need completely rewired from the sounds of it.

They have been parked in Arizona for the last 2 years with little to no drive time.

That's all I know.

@EastCoast, Some states do, but I'm not sure how it works when you start selling out of state.

Funny, stuff like this used to be free for the taking to get it off someone's property.
