I just went and crawled all over this one this morning:
https://www.govdeals.com/index.cfm?f...=1&acctid=7498
Not really anything that I could point at as wrong with it, but 300K on the engine, not an engine that gets talked about here much (T444E), and the access to the engine is not good at all.
OTOH, it's a re-listed item; the first winner backed out at $1100, and they'll take pretty much anything. IIRC it's 2/3 of the way through the bid interval and nobody's bid on it. If somebody wants to take a flyer for $500, good on 'em.

Here's an '87 Bluebird bus that appears to be a factory special-order mobile office of some sort.
Bidding is only at $2800, auction ends tomorrow afternoon. Looks like an excellent base for a conversion!

If you're in Maryland I'd wait til next spring when Montgomery County sells their next batch of Thomas SafTLiners - those are proven to be good buses for skoolie conversions.

If you can afford the maintenance on the Cats. Navistar and Cummins plants have a much, much better parts availability, and the 3000REs have excellent engine access for maintenance.

I am sure that a pencil sharpener wasn't standard equipment and wasn't offered as an option.

What part of TX are you in? When I was looking two months ago I looked at a lot on IH35 near San Antonio. Didn't buy anything from them though because many of the buses had been left open to the elements and smelt mildewy.

Careful with this one. I looked at it. It's been sitting for 5 to 6 years without running at all. Guy tried to sell it to me for $15K if anyone is interested.

Actually, I live about 10 minutes from one of the 3 depots in Monkey County; rode those puppies for 12 years! I've looked a couple (and am willing to go out and look at more if someone on the list asks me to).
The only drawback is that they are 34' foot buses vs the full-on 40'. I'm holding out for the perfect bus - a 40' Thomas MVP ER or Saf-T-Liner. I may give up on that dream and just buy one of the local ones - there sure are a lot of them May-August every year! - Dan
ps - to give them their due, wmkbailey points out that the 34' foot bus fits nicely in 2 parking spaces in any ordinary commercial parking lot, while the 40 footer has to be parked waaay out there where it won't bother anyone by taking up 5 spaces.

Not sure if this URL will cut-n-paste properly:
https://www.govdeals.com/index.cfm?f...=1&acctid=8295
If not, govdeals.com -> Buses -> search on the key word 'internet' for a bookmobile that also offers internet access.
Old, beat up, rusty. Somebody should buy it for parts, part it out so I can buy one or both of those doors, then build a toy hauler on the chassis and sell it for 10x what you paid. It ain't me. - Dan
