$4500 at a dealer, where it HAS sat quite a while.

Nicer looking bus at an auction that hasn't closed but probably a lot less once its said and done.

On another note, I've been watching for a shorty fullsize.
Some neighbors just moved in down the street and used a 5 window shorty to move and its now sitting in their back side yard with a for sale sign. Looks like 80's vintage. No visible rust. I'm thinking the city is all over em. Which sucks but I'm gonna go talk to em today and if they're reasonable on price I'm thinking of buying it ASAP. Weekend fun hauler and smoke den.

My company has a body shop at this location, they often spend a lot of time touching up their buses when there's no buses from other terminals to patch up (we have over 30 terminals and 1000+ buses in the fleet)

Cool, thanks for the reply. That's what you call "job security". "Well, there's no buses to paint today, we'll pull one from the line and touch her up".

I'd buy that in a fast NY minute. Before someone else does.

It might have some problems from sitting, but come on. It's a '00. And it runs? And it has air conditioning and a rear lift?
I can't see any information about mileage, but it's a special needs bus and it runs. If you're there I'd definitely take the money out of the bank on the way to look at it. You can always change your mind after looking, but unless you find something majorly wrong with it I'd be ready to buy it. That sounds like a pretty good deal, but then you are in the salt belt aren't you?

Yes I am. That being said I almost feel obligated to go look to confirm a rust issue or some type of deal killer. I'm not suppose to be making a purchase until next year!

Yeah, that's about a $3,000 bus in my meager opinion. Don't know the mileage. Considering the age any rust can't be all that bad.
On the other hand I'm frequently informed that I'm wrong or partially right. It all depends on your experience.

Definitely go check it out if you can. Noticed the steering wheel is beat to heck and wrapped in tape. tires are probably dry rotted from sitting so long.Check it out though, might be worth it. You can always offer them less money and possibly get it for a steal!

looks to me just like the horn button came off and they wrapped the wheel in tape instead of replace it.. the pedals dont have crazy wear... there has been some rust around the A/C skirt mount that has been repaired.. the air pressure and charge gauges are up to normal so it at least prety normal.. without crawling under cant tell about underfloor rust but the interior doesnt look terrible..

Partially converted Thomas bus

What do you all think of this one. I like that it's already started and they took the time to do the insulation on the side panels. Anything jump out to you from the ad that would be a red flag? Does it need to be registered as an RV in order to drive it anywhere? If we go to check it out, what would you suggest looking for?

Thanks for any tips!

Looks like a nice thoughtful conversion so far. Apparently it's still pretty open in there. The photos are of the conversion which is good but I'd like a couple full body shots of the entire vehicle.

What do you think? Do you like that style of bus or does that matter? How are you planning to build it out?

That body type is fine. I like that it is still open too so it can be finished in a very minimal way. Im not sure what to do with the handicap door though. It's in the area A kitchen would have gone. I bet there is a creative way to use that space.

Yeah, I've seen people use a side door so they could stock their kitchen shelves from outside the bus, rather than dragging everything into the bus before putting it away.

To me, having the side door is a plus. Makes getting large items into the bus easy when needed. Plenty of ways to keep it and incorporate it into the build since it won't be used 99.9% of the time. Build a pantry cabinet onto it so it swings out for easy stocking of shelves if needed. If in the bath area, just leave it as is in the toilet area for use as needed for large items. You could make the door non-swinging and have the panel bolt in place if you only want it in case of access for large items as mentioned earlier, although just leaving it on as a door that is locked shut would be much easier.

Yeah, or you could have an ejector seat right by the door.

It could be a secret exit......or a really small slide out.........or hinge the bottom and make a small fold down deck.
