Came across this:

https://www.renebates.com/a_list.php?id=283&cat=127

Looks like there might be some good busses in that lot. Usually the biding on this site does not get too out of hand.

Just noticed that Public Surplus is listing 2 Crown/Carpenter 84 passenger
Buses for auction in East Wenatchee which is the dryer part of Washington.
They both have around 250,000 mile on them but have the 8.3l Cummins
motor and the Allison 647 transmission and lots of under belly storage.

These buses are a few hours from me and really have my attention.

I did a bit of checking and found that there is really no "Crown" in a 1994 Crown by Carpenter. They are built on a Spartan chassis. Per Wikipedia: In 1994, after failing to meet expectations, the Coach was replaced by a rear-engined version of the Counselor, while retaining a Spartan Motors chassis.

What can you all tell me about these buses compared to Blubird RE? Gillig?

These do have Cummins 8.3 mechanical engines and MT-647 trannys. The only thing I would like more would be an MD3060....

Another random question: Why does a bus that lives in the desert have so much rust?

sure a ton of rust on the bottom half but not so much the top.. makes me wonder if the busses were flooded at one time?

also a 22 year old bus may not have been owned by the same district the whole time.. they couldve been seattle busses then sold at 10-15 years to the current district ..

Very true. We just bought a Seattle bus and found that it had spent most of its life in So Cal.

1. They sell like 50 of them per year. The more identical buses a seller has, the cheaper they'll be.

2. MoCo has unusually strict requirements for pickup, this deters a lot of out-of-state buyers.

3. They have CAT motors and varying amounts of rust. But in general they're pretty solid as far as NE buses go.

Looks like a great inexpensive bus in the Toronto area. No details as to what motor and trans. But a 2000 International with 206,000kms (~128,000 miles) that is still safetied and e-tested for $3000 can't be that bad of a deal.
