no title scares me completely away from any purchase.. a few years back I was buying an old car and the guy didnt have a title.. I told him to call me when he had a title.. took him 6 months of constyant work to finally get it titled first in its "current state" and then transferred to ohio.... id already bought something else and had it half restored by then!

I think the ones with the bathrooms might be interesting. Probably have holding tanks for both fresh water and black water. Have to crawl up under it to see what all it has. The roof air conditioners are nice. Also, having a passenger seat right up front like an RV is cool.

Agreed. I'm looking for a 4 window van though. It seems there few of those and they go for high.

I have dealt with factory restroom equipped buses. If I was g
going to bid on one it would be the non restroom equipped one.
They are a nasty task to remove.

Not to mention that every bookmobile auction I've seen the bidding goes to ridiculous levels. Some of those are pretty rusty and aren't worth the money they're going to fetch, imo.

I'm noticing the roof raise on this one.

That's about the height/look I'm considering.

Another consideration with the bookmobiles, most of them that I have looked at had nice diesel generators already installed.
That is a purchase decision that I am really battling with. I put a big Kubota powered genny in my last bus. I LOVED it. Unfortunately I cannot justify the expense on this one and am searching for a cost effective solution. I REALLY don't want to put a gasoline generator in my diesel bus.....
Raised roof & nice genny.... Those are some pretty good pluses.

I wonder if those bookshelves are laminate covered particle board or real wood. Real wood could be reused in a lot of places. I'm gonna keep my eye on these to see how high they price out at.

I do not know for sure but Decatur, IL. would still be prime salty rust belt territory.

Smack dab in the middle of "salt the roads" country. Not sure the frequency of a bookmobile on the road in adverse conditions. I know its not as often as regular school buses. Still, a very good reason to get up under it and do as complete of an inspection as humanly possible.

I spent a few years working in a custom cabinet shop and a few more around commercial & residential construction. I have seen PLENTY of cabinetry that was similar in appearance and ALL of it was either veneered particle board or edge banded plywood. Little to no solid hardwood.
If they are plywood you may have some decent salvage value but I would not count on it. Remember, on a purchase like that, the purchasing agency would have to put it out for competitive bid. The winning bidder was likely the LOWEST bidder that met spec.
Lowest bidder means cheapest materials that meet spec.
