You could not see any of the floor stringers underneath the bus because there was that much foam insulation sprayed on under there.

What I do know is on the warmest days it was not nearly as warm inside as the inside of the bus sitting next to it in the parking lot. On cold days was that bus was always warmer than any other bus sitting out in the cold.
thats the way redbyrd is.. although it doesnt have spray foam underneath.. but on a warm day that bus is still cool and DEV is an oven...

in winter I turn redbyrd's meager 3 heaters on and roast in 30 minutes from dead cold (and thats saying alot for me to roast in ohio winter!.. I drive in short sleeve shirt as I hate coats in the driver seat.. )...

in DEV it has 6 heaters and I run them all on high all the time and if its below 20 out its gonna be an hour before i can turn any of them down...

both busses run about the same engine temperatures and both put out nearly the same air temp from their vents...

There's a nicely painted blue dognose sitting not far from my work that's been for sale for a bit.

1997 International 3800
72 passenger capacity
DT 466E
Auto trans
166,000 miles

https://madison.craigslist.org/cto/6006486860.html

Looks nice from what I can tell. Not a bad price for something that's already painted.

As I have been digging deeper into the Used Skoolie market and building my list of sites to monitor I have begun to notice that the same usernames are popping up on the same sites, often bidding for multiple buses on each site (and often way above what I think they are worth).

I have put my active search on the back burner while I save a little more cash and hope to pick one up when the school districts have their auctions in the spring. More $$$ is required for bidding against exporters down here.

Georgetown ISD in Tx has a bunch of 71 passenger DT360s with AT545s up for auction ending March 2nd. No bids yet...which I thought was interesting. Most are 1990-1991 models, so perhaps that is keeping the dealers away.

And of course one person has high bid on all 13 of the Bluebird AAFE with Cummins 8.3 and Allison 643's

I am really just watching the DT360 buses. Looking to pick one up as a donor for a F350 truck repower project.

I added a link above, it is a current auction, the one you found in search must have been something else

There are a pile of busses from TN on Govdeals that all end today. 33 and 75 pax Thomas Fe.
Most have been parked since 2014 and a few since 2016.

might not be geared for the highway but you might be able to climb walls.

im guessing the later ones probably are.. like the 03 and 05 as they may have over-drive transmissions.. doesnt mean they didnt do something dumb like put in a 6.90 rear end but im guessing they might be highway capable.. I didnt run the VINs on any of them.

The amtran out in CO would be a sweet one to convert.

My biggest fear is they have been sitting for 3 years. Wouldn't trust them to fire up and drive without at least changing the oil and going over the rubber hoses and tires with a fine tooth comb. And if I did find something major (all the coolant lines, and tires dry rotted, let's say) how do you move it, and where to do the work.

Oh, I'm sure. The last one went for something like $3700 right?
Still WAY cheaper than anything sitting at any dealer.

of all the dealers don brown seems to be the most reasonable but still higher than what you can get them at auctions.. they buy alot of their busses directly off of schools vs getting them all at auction or take in trade-ins since they sell new busses too.. alot of the other dealers go get them at auction like any of us can do.
