yeah DB does seem to have the most reasonable prices.
Makes sense, they're in a heavy rust area, and are far north of central and south america.

some of the busses they get from southern NY arent as rusty as southern state doesnt get all of the bad weather.. esp near the coast.. however rust definitely is a part of the mix in that region..
exporters dont necessarily want to drive busses along I-95 out of the Northeast to florida ports and texas is a long haul...
southern state is not quite flat as a pancake but not real hilly so I dont know what type of transmissions you'll find..
though being a dealer they were pretty helpful on questions...
when I got the DEV I let others' influence my bus decision way too much and swayed me away from going and looking at a nice 7 row IC up there... Live and learn..
for less than 5k i couldve had a 2005 IC shortie with allison 2100, VT-365, working A/C, service records, good tires, engine computer stat sheet and very little rust... go figure ... Naive-ness will kill anyone looking at busses..
taking the time to Learn is Key

Single bid at $500 currently. 240k miles worries me. I refer something south of 175k, better still under 140ish.

I'm sensing some sarcasm. I didn't look thru the shorties at all other than checking to make sure they weren't van conversions. I'll leave that to you and Caddikid.

About the 1998 BB on Public Surplus in Puyallup, WA, that ends at 8 p.m. today Mountain Time....
I'm not bidding on it, primarily because I have commitments that would make it almost impossible to pick it up by the deadline.
Best I can tell, it has the last mechanical 5.9 (12-valve) ever built. And the "World" 5/6 speed Allison transmission.
Hopefully, another of us will snag it, and perhaps for a good price because of the vandalism.

Bethel School District has several in Puyalup including an FE with DT466 & "World" trans.
Public Surplus: Auction #1787213
If I could manage it right now I would be bidding on it. I already have a bus in my yard and a bus in a friend's yard and an addition bus headed for my yard.
I REALLY like being married so no more buses for Steve for a while
I have noticed that Bethel staggers their auctions by about an hour so if you get outbid on an early auction you have additional opportunity. I suspect that they may also get a better yield from the auction that way.

Well $1875 was really not out of line for that bus.

Now I'm almost tempted to curse.
Of course, the buyer might very well have gladly topped me at three times the amount. But that was hecka bargain!
So.... Tentatively, I'm scheduled to pay $2,500 for a 1994 on Monday morning March 6.
My calendar does not have much room for me to go out of town for an unknown number of days before then.
I say "unknown days", since I must expect to make repairs on the way home. Gotta be realistic.

Found what looks to be a large list of 7.6L DT466 buses, several that are likely mechanical. Tampa Machinery Auction, Inc.

Not sure what is in this bus as far as engine, but it looks pretty clean and still has a couple of days left on the auction. This is the exact size we are looking for too! I wish were were ready to buy!

Public Surplus: Auction #1797162
Why is this bus going for such a ridiculous amount? $12K for a CAT-powered Thomas with an engine that's chugging coolant? Did people not read the entire listing?
I understand the CA emissions equipment is worth some money but not that much.

Why would anyone bid this high on a bus with a bad engine? In the questions part of the auction the mechanics said it has a bad knock and needs repairs or replacement.
Public Surplus: Auction #1797162
I guess I'm just watching too many auctions going fairly cheap to understand this.

I was wondering the same... Maybe it isn't a bad engine? Maybe an inside job? The Illuminati? Lol
Or dummies ... That's more likely lol
