From what I can find there are three school district auctions in my area scheduled for October. I won't know if they will have any buses available till the auctions start. Fingers crossed.
I got one from TX last year. Avoid Cleveland ISD.

Thank you for the heads up!

This is supposed to be a new listing on ebay tho I feel like I have already watched the video a few weeks ago. Any comments / suggestions on any good or bad aspects of the bus would be much appreciated.

Nothing bad about that bus, unless it has a 545. They always list them as having an Allison tranny, but don't understand that most of them are Allisons and some are not desirable. I bet that bus nears $5k by the end.

Thanks for the input Marc. It seemed like a good contender to me as well. Steer tires seem a little border line but I am not really sure what to look for in that department yet. There is another one listed that is almost identical with better rubber but it has hydrolic brakes which I have been told to avoid if possible.

My other concern is that it is 700 - 800 miles away from me and after reading your posts on what you went through picking up your bus...seems like finding a closer bus is the smarter bet.

I avoid the hydraulic brakes before I would avoid the worn tires.
Actually picking mine up had no issues, it was just far away(2600 miles), but was only a few hours from my brother so I visited and made it a dual purpose trip. I'm not sorry at all for where I had to go to get this bus. I haven't seen a like one since. Now the first bus I bought fell through be cause it was junk and I was refunded. Inconvenienced on getting out of town on that deal, but lucked out hooking up with Cadillac Kid on his way through OKC.

All mine have always gotten home. Even from thousands of miles.

I am glad to hear that. I would feel OK at 200-250 miles. Beyond that feels like pushing my luck. What does one even do when a bus breaks down on the side of the road? I guess you just call a tow truck like normal? What would you recommend I have on hand money wise for an event like that? Obviously there is no way to know for sure--I meant more as a general rule of thumb. $1,500 or there-about?

What do you think about the Kansas City area for buses? I'm watching one that checks almost every box on my wish list. I almost felt giddy when I saw the listing. Seriously =)

Then of course all the doubts start creeping in.

I grew up in IL where rust was plentiful due to salt for snowy roads and my guess is that KC is similar. If you do want to buy it, make sure you look for rust in person before you buy.

Cleveland doesn't know how to take care of stuff. And their staff are beyond rude.

There were a few skoolies that went under water here during hurricane Harvey but they got scrapped...not sold as runners. Overall, the Houston area has a rep for good deals on solid and pretty well maintained buses but like anything else it comes down to each unit and doing your homework which includes a hands-on, detailed inspection.

True! I was just thinking people need to be on the lookout for the signs of water.

Where are some good places there to look? They do bus a ton of kids.

I lived in Houston for 7 years. I left in 2003. I miss the people in Houston and not the heat or mosquitos.

Not a 4x4, but the seller claims it will "go anywhere".
