SHAZAM! look at this white bus 8.3 cummins
Inmate exchange bus, RV, Camper, Motorhome
lay your eyeballs on this one I found on craigslist Topeka ks
If I had some inmates I wanted to exchange or trade with someone else I would be all over this bad boy!
or if I had not bought my thomas, but I think mine has a taller roof
Inmate exchange bus, RV, Camper, Motorhome
With just a little imagination, a person can have a really nice bus in just the configuration they want. two toilets, power tire chains, air seat-door. 8.3 Turbo Cummins, Allison 5 speed, 6 position retarder, 6 brand new tires and this bus it ready to go. Two working TransAir units on top, quick heat unit up front and cruise at 75 mph at 2100 rpm. Will hold air for weeks. Tom 66zero, 23ate, ten7ate. Great choice for: Band, music groups, mobile clinic, mobile shop, construction headquarters, Amish crew transportation--you name it and this could be the vehicle.

Shoulda bought it straight from the source.
It was on GovDeals or Public Surplus a few months back.
The rear looks like it would be a LOT of work to make "livable".

Not one mention of it being made into a home.

I didn't really mean a home either.
Imagine cleaning out many years of prison transport. Blood, sweat, and... well I'm sure you can imagine.

I was thinking more along the lines of "Ramon 'Sally-Can't Dance' Martinez" from Con-Air

Bus hunting was fun.
So I decided I'd still pretend I'm bus shopping. I peruse the bus listings almost daily still.

I wish they had pictures of the inside, from the outside view and
the description it is the twin to my bus. I got mine from public
surplus for under 4 grand.

My reasoning in buying my bus is that of any bus this one would
have the best maintenance record because you don't want to have
a break down with a load of prisoners on board. Mine shows 320,000
miles but only 9,000 hours on the engine. The part that sold the
wife is it had two toilets in it. Go figure.

I had pictures of the inside, it was CLEAN. Showroom clean.
Not a bad price for a mountain spec bus (8.3, auto chains, retarder) with AC. But not cheap, either.

That is the equivalent of 3/4 of a million miles.
A ton of things start breaking down at that millage.
Not the engine, but small things bolted to the engine.

Nat your math is a little confusing, 320,000 is less than 1/3 of a million
miles while 750,000 is 3/4 of a million miles. My ADD seems to be under
control today, how is yours doing.

I initially thought the same thing.... then I started considering the 9,000 hours of idling, high idling, etc, stopping, and starting on the route... it would have an impact, just not as much.
Ross Perot's Fuzzy Math, perhaps???

I was calculating wear and tear from the hours on the engine.
I would rather have a engine with 500,000 miles driving, than a engine with 100,000 and 8,000 hours of idling time.
Just saying.....

I haven't done anything to it all summer. Been to busy chasing money this season with a baby on the way in two months.
