Still wanting a Allison auto trans

I'm looking for an Allison auto trans for my Ford diesel pickup. I would like to get a trans from a bus or some special equipment. The trans wanted/needed is the small AT545 that is very common in International buses made by Blue Bird. I just bought a 1990 Blue Bird bus. I just drove the bus to Idaho from Kentucky.
This bus is really nice. Too nice to turn into parts. Frank

You could try calling Tim at United Truck Body as he had a few parts buses. I'm not positive what he still has since I haven't been up there in a while. Shipping would probably be a killer, but it's worth a shot.

Allison auto trans

Thanks for the suggestion. Any commercial parts place will expect far more money than I will pay. I can buy another bus and strip any good stuff. This current bus is a really good bus with lots of wanted equipment. Frank

... Frank, it's worth a shot, I bought my bus recently from him, and I thought he was reasonable...
Check him out, after all, at worst you'll just be out one phone call... BTW, he was stripping down a bus for parts when I was there in April....

Here is a link to another place out of southern minnesota. http://www.ericksontrucks.com
I havn't been there yet but their web site has lots of parts listed.

I'd say you might want to just find a bus with the same year range of engines just cause you are going to need all the related part to go with it such as the mounting adapter plate and the starter.

Hey Frank,

I was looking on the 'E' place today and noticed what you're looking for is being offered there. Good luck with that.

On a side note, I'm looking for an Allison MT643R with retarder. Anyone?

Re: Still wanting a Allison auto trans

Greetings Jay, There is a pull it part salvage place in So Cal. It is Ecology Auto Parts. The place is located in Sante Fe Springs, Ca. The place is huge and everything is a real deal. Most Allison trans are less than $400. The phone number is 562 921 9974.
The man making trucks into parts is a man named Ralph. Ralph is quite a knowledgeable truck guy. His phone number is 562 577 1024. He knows prices and if part is available.
A word of caution. While inside salvage place, my radio/cd was ripped from my dash. Protect your car. Removal took just about 5 minutes. Crime is very high.
Protect your self and property. Radio was just 2 weeks old and cost $400.
Ecology Salvage is a very large place. Go with any tools needed. Big diesel engines and trans are removed. The parts are worth the drive. Go prepared.
About 5-10 buses are crushed per day. Frank Still in awe.
