Sorry timmylc but I perceived that you were complaining about it. Given that you are listed as a moderator combined with all the flack I get from EVERYTHING that I post, I figured it was not welcome on this forum. No problem. Since I start a new job on Saturday, I won't be on the computer as much for a while. I have seen several here post about considering workkamping.
Personally I think workkamping is a poor choice. Too many hours traded for site. Most folks figure it based on a single night site rental but that's wrong. You need to figure the site value based on the cheapest rate, which is generally monthly and far less than the nightly rate. And they will base your taxes on the full price. You will owe income taxes on bartering a site for work... as room & board. The IRS will want the taxes on that.
Example on the math...
our current site is $400/mo works out to $400/30 = $13.33 per night
Regular site rent for one night $35
($35 X .40 = $14.... $35 X .35 = $12.25... also how we do a rough estimate for monthly site rent when none are posted online. Monthly sites tend to run under 40% and above 34% of the single night price.)
New job will pay me $10.30/hr. Even though only part-time (20 hrs per week),I am much farther ahead than workkamping. Even at the base wage in NM of $7.50/hr I would be ahead. Now, if you have no transportation and are "stuck" at the campground, that is the only way I see a benefit. At which point I see buying a cheap chinese touring scooter (cheap on gas but requires a motorcycle license/insurance) a huge plus...

(I want
this one but will most likely get a cheaper one)
BTW, I figure I will work here a year or so, then transfer to another store within the company but in another state. There are Home Depots all over.My paycheck will be direct deposited to my Wal-mart Visa Moneycard. No local banks to hassle with. No waiting for my "last" paycheck.
BTW, why is the website looking "odd"?
