Yeah HF and northern are cheap tool places. Has anyone had experience with the larger gen sets from HF cause the prices are good just dunno bout longevity or repair issues. Also if they respond well.to lpg conversions.

Just my 2 cents, but it has been my experience that anything made out of Chinesium is going to fail/fall apart quickly.

I went to China in 2011 for three weeks. Oddly enough they believe they supply everything we need over here. I was quite surprised at their attitude about their high quality items.

Imagine that. For some Chinese people I was the first American they had met. That'll give them false impressions of Americans.

They are a very friendly people. Well worth the trip, and the noodle shops..... ooooooh!

As much as I LOVE mopeds and scooters, I've turned down COUNTLESS free chinese stuff. I bought a cheap chinese scoot and never even got 1000km's out of it. Yes, it was in km's.

I can make any Tomos run forever, and they're made in eastern europe in the former Soviet Bloc. That's how bad Chinese stuff is!

Chinese goods are as good, or bad, as American corporate buyers specify.

The iPhone is made in China. As are many other high-end items.

So let's not be blaming the Chinese, when the culprits are the US importers who believe they can sell crap, and are generally correct.

Geely Motors is to blame for my cheap chinese scoot. They own Volvo.
I don't dig Iphone's either. lol
I'm not hating the Chinese, but the Chinese products I've used all suck.
The gy6 engines so many people are running- I HATE those things. Even though they're honda clones. They flat out suck and the parts never fit right.

I get it, and I agree. Things might change though if we blamed Americans because it's them who are at fault.

I totally understand, and agree. If it weren't China, it would be somewhere else. People want CHEAP, and that hardly ever equates to quality.
I'm not a wealthy person at all, but I spend my hard earned dollar on quality. I DEMAND quality when I pay for it.

"Cheap" will always be what it is...cheap. Wherever it comes from.

BIG ass FLUX AND BIG ass VOLTAGE (250-300 min) and the joining steel is beveled which allows for a good root pass then a hot pass that connects the root pass to both metals and if a they are using flux core wire then they will do many more stringer welds to fill in everything up to grinding level as needed.
And that's only when the engineer mucked up and the steel didn't actually fit.
Even on bridges the only weld tacks are to secure the nuts in a perfect world?
But I have dealt with building 1" bridging plates to be welded in to fill someone's muck up.
I love MIG in a shop away from the wind but if I can't have that then for me stick is it.
For even flux core if you need to cover it again then it should be brushed clean and the voltage you are working with will decide if the cover weld is penetrating and floating the old weld slag or is trapping it?
Always try to weld uphill with flux core or stick because downhill will trap the flux and if you have to go sideways (left to right-right to left ) do stringers then start at the bottom with that weld run then add the next one onto the top of that?
