Virginia buses site

Found this site, looks like lots of 2000s just got retired. Not sure of the prices as I'm sure they want to haggle.

Re: Virginia buses site

I used to deliver vans to them, never quite made it as far as the used bus lot just down the road. I don't know about buying from them, but they sure were nice people to deliver to.

Re: Virginia buses site

So we went up to Sonny Merryman on June 13th and looked at the used school buses they have, and by George do they have ALOT of them on their sales lot, but only a few that were even remotely close to my price range. ( I figure that our price range is probably close to what most are). They had a few 1992-1993 Bluebird TC2000's, 13 window, 5.9 cummins, AT-545, 240k Miles+, and they were asking 3500, more than I would want to give for that year and miles. Jeff, the salesman, is a real nice guy, but is a salesman and wants to sale you the a good bus, of course he tried to talk us in to newer models, to no avail. We spent nearly the whole day walking buses, measuring heights, length's behind seats, number of windows, total lengths, engine location and so on. We weren't able to come to an agreement on any prices, but if nothing else it is a great resource for just walking buses and finding out what you like and don't like. They have most common brands, Thomas, Bluebird, International and Amtran. We found a 94 TC2000 with a rear engine 5.9, 13 window that we really liked. The rear engine is SOOOO much quieter and seemed to have a better throttle response (then again it had only 130k). But his asking price was 5500 and from the asking price, I knew that we were not going to find an agreeable number. The one thing that I found talking to dealers is that the $2000 bus is no more they say. They can get 1200-2500 for the engines, an 1200-1800 for the body/chassis at a scrap yard so Jeff wasn't to inclined to go underthe 3500 mark on any bus. I would have posted when we got back, but as we came back into NC that evening a horrible storm hit our area (Albemarle, NC) and I spent all that night and into the Friday morning cutting trees out of the roads so we could get our Fire trucks through our district.

Re: Virginia buses site

If you can go to a public auction you can buy em for the price that Sonny Merryman pays....... you can cut out the middleman.
Try http://www.publicsurplus.com/sms/browse/cataucs?catid=4 You can search by state if you are looking for one close to home..........

Re: Virginia buses site

Don't forget the GSA, they have local all over US as well. You do have to attend live auction though, no online sales, but I think that tends to mean lower prices. Anyway here's a link:
