WTB Aluminum/Chrome Wheels
Looking for a good deal on a set of fronts. 22.5 x 8.25 stud pilot BALL SEAT type.
with or without tires, I've got good rubber already though. Not really wanting simulators or anything like that. Just some decent used alcoas or something. If I could find chromed steels I'd actually prefer that.
I'm in no rush, just looking for a nice deal to bling out my shorty a little bit.
Will look good with the chrome bumper I'm planning.
thanks

Someone said those exist commonly in the rust belt so their wheels don't rust out.

Cool, that would make sense.
Figured I'd put out feelers as I definitely can't afford to buy em new or even at close to new prices.

Same here. Those seriously rusty buses are being scrapped somewhere, so it stands to reason there might be some nice aluminum wheels also likely going to scrap.
That's not real high on my list of necessities right now. Now a big chrome bumper would be a different story.

aluminum wheels run in the rust belt will not look like new unless the owner kept them clean.

Yeah, it makes sense that 20 year old aluminum wheels won't look all that great. It's pretty hard to make old aluminum wheels look good again.

Having said that, I will inquire with a couple of the local plating shops to see what it would cost me to chrome the factory wheels and rear bumper.

Even very old aluminum is easy to polish up like new. Chrome on steel rims chips way too easy.

aluminum wheels SUCK in the salt... a couple of my wrangler jeeps had nice aluminum wheels and even afyer the 3 years of lease was up the wheels were starting to age and show signs of pitting / corrosion etc..
that said, I do see a lot of straight truck local-routers running them.. those trucks would probably be a direct fit for our school busses..

I'd like to be all over those 19.5s but they're on the wrong coast. Besides there's enough there for three buses.

The 5 hand hole steel rims can be found ocasionally real cheap. They are getting scarce now though. I see some nice wheels on A1truckwheels.com but I have no idea of their price.
