WTS 2001 Thomas Freightliner 24'

Two years ago I bought this school bus from the county and put TONS of work into it! We've used it for multiple trans-east coast trips and it has been everything we hoped it would be. Work has changed and we just don't have enough time to use it and justify holding on to it. I have had the vehicle re-titled as a "House Car" in North Carolina. The bus is a short bus on a full sized chassis: 24 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 10 feet high. The vehicle is located in Winston-Salem NC. Below I list some of the work I've done (or had done) to it.

Upgrades:
- New wood laminate floor
- Mini fridge
- Countertop
- Ceiling fan
- Convertible couch that seats 4 or can be a king size bed
- Six bucket seats with seatbelts
- Cabinets and shelves for storage
- Camp toilet (w/bags)
- Blackout curtains for privacy
- 120V AC electrical system (switches between shore power, batteries, and alternator automatically!)
- Battery bank to support 2-3 days off the grid
- Shore power hookup
- New rear end gear (this was expensive) to allow 65+ mph
- Governor removed
- 4 brand new rear tires
- New fuel gauge sending unit
- Recalibrated speedometer
- New all metal grill on front
- Exterior fully painted with heavy duty enamel
- Repaired interior air conditioner
- Adjustable rear air ride suspension

What transmission? What was your previous gear ratio? What is the new ratio? How does it drive with the new gears?

It has an Allison automatic transmission. Old gear ratio was 7.17 new one is 4.33. Took it from NC to Maine and back no problem. Goes 65 to 75mph easy and gets almost 11mpg.

How much are you looking to get for it?

Also looks like a high headroom model (a big plus.)

I'm 6'2" and I can stand up straight with a little extra headroom in the bus. If you are interested in the bus and want to talk about price shoot me an email at skoolie@nheath.com

The interior space behind the drivers seat is about 17'. The GVW on the bus is 18,000 according to the bus documentation.

Price is negotiable - I really have no idea how to price this thing beyond totaling up my costs and trying to guess at what the market value is. Any advice is appreciated!

Looks very comfortable for cross country running, better than a Gulfstream I imagine and way more fun.

Hope it gets a great home!

size

exactly the size of bus I 'think' I need and done up very nicely - my own conversion will have to be very "back woods" in comparison

A few more questions: is it insulated and what’s the tread like on the front tires?

See attached photo for front tire tread. The bus has stock insulation - I think it's 1" fiberglass.
