Exclamation Buying a school bus at auction

Have you ever wondered what school districts do with their old "surplus" school buses?

Many time school districts dispose of their buses via a professional auction provider.

Auctions International, Inc. offers educational institutions a turn-key service to liquidate their surplus buses. (www.AuctionsInternational.com)

As a buyer, please be aware that nearly all online auctions are conducted "as-is". This means there are no warranties or guarantees regarding the condition or fitness for a particular purpose, for any vehicle sold. ALWAYS BE SURE TO INSPECT ANY SCHOOL BUS YOU ARE INTERESTED IN PURCHASING. (If you are unable to physically inspect, there are services such as WeGoLook, who can provide you with a customized inspection report, for a small fee)

Once, you buy a school bus, now you need to get it home.
Companies such as Uship have made it easier than ever to get price quotes for all of your shipping needs.

There is a salvage yard called M and M in Virgina they have a huge inventory of buses, I picked mine from 70 others, so glad I didn't go the auction route.

I found mine through the Facebook marketplace. A bus company that had to put buses out to pastor simply because of age. I bought a 2003 Chevy Express 3500, gas, with 101000 miles. It is in such great shape and I’m ecstatic!

Thanks for the link.

Quite a few buses but only one pre-2005 skoolie.

You may want to check out www.publicsurplus.com and www.govdeals.com they both have a good selection of buses.

Ritchie Brothers Auctions gets a lot of crew carrier vehicles from private and public entities.

422 Bus Auctions holds online and live auctions for some school bus contractors.

First Students is another contractor.

I bought one bus from them. Seemed like nice folks. The service manager spent a lot of time answering questions.

I took the seats out and used it as a moving truck. Then a tree fell on it...... And, dents and all, sold it for $500 more than I paid for it.

I got mine at auction through 422 Bus Sales. It was from Student Transportation of America. The fleet manager was a nice guy who helped me a lot.

Im watching public surplus to get pricing ideas, what I like about them is I always see a couple Arizona busses, mainly metro Phoenix. Which is nice for me because I live in Scottsdale, but I’m mentioning because I wouldn’t buy a bus from anywhere else (metro Phoenix that is) because it’s guaranteed to have factory ac even if it needs repair and is probably the most rust free you can get.

I did not buy mine from this auction site only because I found mine locally. They have listings from all states. Good descriptions and specs.

Looks like parts were pulled off it. At that point it's hard to tell what is missing and if its even worth fixing. Could be a decent parts rig for one of the crown guys out there.
