Blown IP

So here I am, my bus is blocking my driveway with 2ft of snow around it and a bad injector pump. I have about 13k miles on a rebuilt IP now being sent back to Kansas where the guy rebuilt it. All 13k miles on the pump are veggie and I'm certain that no water has been entering the system. I have a 2 micron Racor water block filter which shows no signs of swelling. It is very cold up here and I have a about 2 ft of unheated veggie fuel line before the shared stock fuel filter. Directly followed by the IP. When the bus shut down it was about 1 1/2 miles after I switched to veg. Good fuel pressure from the lift pump to the IP but nothing after. I even pulled out the fuel cutoff solenoid and got fuel to gush out of that. So every veggiers nightmare just happened to me, hopefully this pump is still under warranty or something. Oh yeah it's a Boesh VE pump off a '89 5.9 cummins.

Re: Blown IP

bummer, was the IP hard to replace?

I'd like to know because I have the same bus/engine combo.

Re: Blown IP

Yeah it's a pain. And you need a special tool to remove the pump. And you need to time the motor just right so when you reinstall the pump it's timed right. The only way to time the motor without taking apart the whole front cover you need to push in this pin which my fat arms can't even reach. I suspect cold veggie as the culprit, it was -10F when it happpened. The oil in the tank was 100F but I think about 2 ft of fuel line got cold and cold veg got to the IP.
