First and foremost, welcome to the forum.

For insurance, I contacted Progressive Commercial (it is *NOT* the same as Progressive Personal). Tell them you want "Commercial Vehicle for Personal Use", give them the relevant info and do not mention anything about conversion. Mine runs about $60 a month.

Good luck.

I have progressive as well all the others wanted to see the finished vehicle. Now progressive has my 5 cars too. Nationwide should have made me happy now they're off the jokey vendor list.

I can see that "no American address, no American driver's license" = "no insurance". Tough, but I would guess there's no easy way around it. Do you have resident alien permit ("green card")? Is you Louisiana friend willing to be the owner of record?

I personally love to see a wheelchair accessible skoolie hit the road.

I never had any luck contacting Progressive directly.

Finally I contacted a local independent insurance agent, who deals with many insurance companies, and told them I needed a "commercial policy for private use." They had not heard of this policy previously, but they did find it on their Progressive site menu. They said they learned something new that day.

Most of us have had better luck contacting independent insurance agents, because they deal with numerous insurance companies.

Best of luck to you.
