Wow, I'm surprised, never heard of anyone having any trouble with GMAC. Don't know what else to suggest.
Maybe another call back to GMAC to talk to another person - maybe like the DMV, you have to keep asking 'til you get to the person that has the answer you want.
I hope you get some luck going your way.

Re: Big insurance problem and so bummed about it.

Well I let my policy lapse for the winter, so I'm not worried about anything there. I dont know the name of my agent but they're on 28th street in Wyoming, MI 49509 - I'm sure a google search will find it, I'm on the road with jason delivering his bus or I'd look up the phone number & my policy number. I can check when we get home - prob sat. or sunday.

I dont know why you keep running into snags with the insurance, thats a real bummer. Keep trying diffrnet agents/companies, it sounds like your agent might not have run across something like a skoolie before and may not know how to do it. I doubt that every other agent has lied on the appt. to cover our bus's.

My State Farm insurance agent is Mary Eddy Samuelson in Virginia, MN and she has been very cool with me if all else fails.

Re: Big insurance problem and so bummed about it.

I have talked with coworkers that have family as insurance agents. I guess an agent is licensed to a state. Some agents are licenced for more than one state if their business benefits from border cross over.

I am still running into a wall. I even talked to a local agency that I know for a fact provides insurance to a guy that has had several DUIs, and that agency is willing to provide liability insurance on this guy. Yet, they say they can not give me a policy to cover my school bus as a motor home. Its a funny world when all the facts support you and still no one will find a way to make things right.

Philbus, if you are home now, could you give me your agents info. I am getting absolutely no where in my local area.

As for my blowing off steam, what is it with these agents? I thought that they were in their position to work at finding a policy that fit the circumstances. Something here in Michigan has polluted the process of insuring a converted school bus and it started before I came along. Another agent today told me that they are continuing to service their current converted school bus customers but the agencies have put a stop to issuing new policies. What is happening?

Re: Big insurance problem and so bummed about it.

Well....

My agent is fantastic. She is willing to work with me on ANYTHING, has no issue suspending and restarting my coverage on a whim, heck...she even found me a $50 per year policy with NO deductible to cover my newly purchased Snap-On tools. She is awesome, plain and simple. She also gets ALL my business, even if I can save a buck here or there.

I don't understand why agents won't work to make a buck. I really doubt my bus is ever going to cost State Farm any money, but it is making my agent money. Even if it is not directly from the policy, it is just another reason why I get my more expensive policies through her.

Sure,

My policy number is 428995 38-0
For the vehicle make is says BLUEB and Model is listed as PC2000 (typo, should read TC2000)

My agent is... Stedman Insurance Agency Inc 508 28th St SW, Wyoming, MI (616) 538-9911

I don't remember who I talked to, I got it in March 06, and never renewed it last summer. I remember it being rather simple, no questions asked, and my policy was $300/year.

Hope this helps

Re: Big insurance problem and so bummed about it.

phillbus914,

You are the man! We have gotten in touch with your agency and we went through all the questions. they seemed a little hesitant about insuring our bus. They said it was no problem if we only wanted basic coverage. Basic coverage was all we were ever looking for from any of the agencies we approached. We are trying to get documents and signatures worked out ( trying to find access to a fax), but it looks like we will secure insurance for $249 a year. Our gratitude and thanks! If we ever meet up we owe you at least a home (or campfire) cooked meal.
