Buying a bus and driving it home

Hi folks, I am new to the conversion world and planning to get started asap. My question is about buying a bus, most likely in another state, and driving it back home to CO. Does anyone have any experience/resources for me that will tell me if its legal to buy a bus and drive it without a conversion back home? I am aware of all the things I will have to do when I get it back to get it titled and licensed as an RV but I am just wondering about the trip back. Do I need someone with a CDL just to drive it home? Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure about CO laws, but PA mandates you have a none commercial class B permit or license. in my state the permit is $5.

IDK, man.... If I lived in the great state of Colorado I'd never see the need to outsource a bus. They have some of the best school buses out there!

Worst case scenario- living in CO but buying a bus in the midwest or Michigan.

Werd. I went to CO for mine. Granted it was a CA bus originally... but whatevs.

Like the troopers will actually SEE a big, yellow vehicle driving along at a rather sedate speed.

Usually, when you do buy the bus, you'll have drive-off tags issued by the seller. If they're not, I suggest that you get some temp tags from YOUR DMV before you get your new toy. And, while you're there, ask if you need a CDL. Chances are that you won't, but ask anyway.

A few words of advice about air brakes:

1. Watch your air pressure - CLOSELY. A buzzer WILL sound if the pressure drops too low.
2. Air brakes are twitchy. Gentle pressure on the pedal far in advance will keep you from doing a Windshield Taste Test.

One final caveat: You are now driving a VERY LONG building. Keep your eyes on the mirrors when you go around corners.
