California requirements for road legal

I keep hearing rumors of what has to change, but cant find any real info. To be clear, I am not doing an RV conversion, at least not yet. I just want my bus to be California legal for hauling my motos, a few friends and camping gear.

-No forward facing red lights

-Stop sign removed
-"School Bus" & "Emergency Exit" signage removed
-Flashing Red & Amber high mount lights permanently disabled
-Permanent color change to any color other than yellow

If you have any info to share, I would much appreciate the source, like violation number, government document, etc. Are they Federal regulations or State?

You must change the color to something other than school bus yellow. See CVC 27603.

V C Section 27603 Color Required for Former Schoolbus
