SD, I have Farm Bureau in AZ. I see they have a presence in VA. My agent came and looked at my bus, took some pics and we were good.
Can't hurt to ask: https://www.farmbureauadvantage.com/FindAgent.aspx

Many policies cover a vehicle that is bought for x number of time until the agent can be notified. So, if you bought a new car as the dealership closes at 8pm, it is fine to drive home until you can notify the agent. Seems like this should apply to a bus bought for personal use as well. You might read your current auto policy.

Ditto to what HolyBus says....I think most policies will cover you on the purchase of a new vehicle to get it home.
I know my policy covers me when renting a vehicle and any other vehicle I may be driving.

Our regular insurance covers anything we buy (no boats or planes) for 72 hours (weekend) to get it home, it has been this way for 15+ years

"I passed" on what? The extra coverage or the bus?
Trying to figure out if I should be congratulating you on your new bus or not?
If congrats are in order - <high five!> What kind of bus did you finally get? Inquiring minds want to know!

the bus was 10 hours away, gas, paying someone to get there, hotel, oil change, the tires were at least 8 years old, it raised it beyond what the bus was worth to me.

Sounds like when I picked up my bus. Drove up to ky with some friends and they followed me back. Bus was 2100 and I spent 400 getting it home.

500.00 gas
200.00ins.
75.00 hotel
75.00 oil change
100.00 food
500.00 just in case tire blows or break down

500.00 gas diesel? 10 hrs x 45=450 miles so 500 miles /5 miles to gallon (likely will see 10 mpg) is 100 gallons so $300 in fuel..good to go on estimate ;)
200.00ins. you need this
75.00 hotel whats this for? you have a huge metal tent, bring a sleeping bag->cost? $0.00
75.00 oil change Why change oil before trip? have money for a gallon or so of oil, just incase, cost $15
100.00 food !!!!!! just eat some canned wieners and saltines, maybe some gatoraide and water....say $20....don't be all fancy
500.00 just in case tire blows or break down just have plastic, and $100 cash
better have 1500.00 on hand if bus is a day away.

FIFY, I saved you like $800 dollars
That is a very safe game plan, I am joking about everything except the hotel and oil change
also do you have a birthday coming up? you can ask for walmart gift cards, you can use them on your trip ;)
You will find a bus, they have ways of finding you when time is right
I will add this, look at fuel filters when you pick a bus up, if they look old at all, stop and pick a new one up on way out of town, just incase

Usually, its a smart move to bring an extra battery too.
Ask me how I know.
