I fascinated by the dt466 engine, and spent a lot of time reading about it.

It is known as one of the top 5 best engines ever made. Common to get 1/2 million miles before an overhaul. Superb machines.

I have a gas motor because i know and like gas motors and drive as little as possible, but i dream of having the money for a daily driver dump truck with a dt466 and even have test driven a few.

Good luck!

the DT series engines were some of the best medium duty for sure.. a series that also weas destroyed by emissions.. thje DT466 was known in its later years as the Maxxforce DT.. strict emissions requirements were hard to meet with it.. and one of the ways manufacturers help themselves meet EPA regs is by running them hotter.. hotter running engines emit less .. DT's never liked running above 200.. the Maxxforce DT's were almost always above 200.. the fans didnt even kick on till 214-215.. results were lots of issues and less than stellar longevity..

as most know here, the DT360/408/466/530 all running nice and cool (180-200) are as happy as can be and last forever .. get one hot though and it aint happy...
