Turns out I WAS able to get it insured in FL as an RV/motor home by State Farm. Easy peasy. The original problem was the address I gave them as. Mail Forwarding service (St Brendans Isle, Inc in Green Cove Springs). I called another SF agent (in Venice, using a friend's address there) and they jumped right on it! (Talk to Jeromy at Stanley Dean State Farm in Venice).

Now I need to take that to Tax Collectors office to try to get a FL title with RV/Motor Home on it!

The lady I talked to on the phone loved the crap out of my bus she kept calling me back telling me she was showing all her coworkers.
National general told me no way on a personal conversion in florida just last week.

What were the requirements? I'm having a very hard time in florida. I got the title changed to a motorhome already. I'm finally reaching out for advice because I don't know what to do. I am willing to establish residence in another state if necessary.

Have you called Good Sam?
I'm in FL and they said they'd cover me. But I left mine as a bus and have Progressive.

Go through good sam..... they will then deal with the underwriting with national general. They will ask for pictures of the bus already converted.

When you call they have a automated message system and a school bus conversion was even one of their options.

Do you have a CDL?
I'm assuming that if I keep my bus titled as such, I will need a CDL to drive it as it is over 25K weight and has air brakes.

Nah, you'll get regular, non-apportioned tags and will be fine. Its for private use by a person. But if you get Good Sam you'll save $$$. They will want to see that the bus has a bed, running water, electricity, and a toilet. and Pics. They may even send someone to check, but not sure on that.

Will a composting toilet work, or a home made composting toilet? OR will I just have to bolt down a regular toilet not hooked up to anything and get rid of it after it is insured?

The lady i talked to talked about other school bus conversions and how they dont like fireplaces or just a bucket for a toilet. Just make it look good and you shouldn't have a issue. Remember they only gice liability for bus conversions they wont offer any full coverage.

Beds - check,
Electricity - check,
Toilet - composting (check?)
Running water - does a hand pump sink count?
Do I need to instal an electric pump?
