Florida-no insurance carrier
Looks like all the insurance agents send there stuff to progressive (Who no longer insures "anything that was ever a schoolbus").
not private or commercial ???
Something is going on.

Have you tried an agent, or online?
I went through a local agent.

Weird. My insurance is through Progressive, sub-contracted by USAA. I got mine a few years ago, so maybe I'm grandfathered in.
Have you tried not telling them it was a bus? When I got mine, all I said was, "International 3800," and that's what the title says, too. Of course, mine was registered as a motorhome in Tennessee when I bought it, so maybe that helped.

Ive been hearing something about NOT going the Mh title route to stay with Progressive.
IF its fully converted then Good Sam should be able to help you out.

Don't know I have two at the momentOne. Commercial policy $3000 a year with Progressive
But that being way to much for me to keep I kept looking
Next one is one I just found on line with the General. It's a. Progressive policy
For non professional bus conversion at 450 for the year
So I'm waiting to see if it comes in the mail then I'll cancel the More. Expensive one
The general online I think is the way to go

If you leave it titled as a bus rather than a motorhome, don't you then need a CDL class B to drive it legally if it is over 26K lbs?

Hey I am new to the community and just bought my first skoolie! Anyway if your in Florida go with Good Sam (underwritten by National general) they were so helpful. Purchased the bus in the morning called about 10 am... Had insurance by 3:45.. and Good Sam loves the Skoolies! The lady I talked to on the phone loved the crap out of my bus she kept calling me back telling me she was showing all her coworkers.

Hi Guys, I've recently acquired a cherry 2000 Bluebird/Frieghtliner and am having trouble getting it insured as an RV in FL (or anywhere). I've called State Farm, Progressive, and Good Sam. Progressive says they won't touch a converted skoolie. GS will, but need to show them evidence that it's already converted, which isn't (seats are out). State Farm might have, but they won't let me use the St. Brendans Isle mail forwarding service address I gave them. Any other options out there? Worst case, I'll use a friend's FL address and go back to SF to see if that works.
[BTW, if you've done your conversion, GS will cover you, but DO NOT tell them you plan to live/travel in it full time, as they won't cover you for that.]
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Unfortunately, you may have to see about getting Commercial for private use insurance, at least until its converted; Progressive will touch that (without having to sleep with Flo). Unfortunately, every state is different like I can't get GS (or FMCA, etc) without going through Progressive here in NJ (who drops you like a hot potato once they run the VIN.

Thanks Scooter. Turns out, one of the FL DMV guys (very helpful and seemed knowledgable) asked If I had a CDL...when I said 'no', he said "good! That would make it harder for you to get it titled and insured as a motor home." So assuming he's at least half right, I'll try to avoid getting a CDL.

Yes Progressive insurance is a trip
They will gladly take your money give you a Insurance policy and promptly cancel it
Me I had them put off its start date till end of June
Back in March so what do they do cancel it for the end of July
But me I got them because it did not go in to effect
So I get all my money back
Must keep an eye on Progressive insurance tricky bastards
How they get away with this bull is beyond me
More or less
Robbing people

Are you sure it is Progressive that they used? I went good sam as others here and it was National General that underwrote it. So far so good at 6 months.

Check Consumer Affairs site regarding poor ratings and complaints on The General. They are not the same as National General.
